Powerfull music in an emotional film like Shawshank Redemption can really tug at the heartstrings

Top film, one of my favourites. Inspires my faith in human nature too which is a good thing

The Green Mile - the injustice makes me cry like a baby every time, and also it sets me off when the guards start crying too :|

I honestly can't remember the last time i had a really good cry!!!! Certainly not since i've been single again i know that much;) :p

I get the odd tear every now and then for little things quite regularly but that doesn't count. I'm more likely to cry at something on TV than anything in my own life, it's just too darn good!!!:D

One theory about why women live longer than men is that women cry more easily, both because crying is a physical realease of toxins and also and emotional release which if left to build up can manifest into physical illness and disease.:)

Yeah but thats what i am like, i have nothing to cry about- yet i feel that i am missing it in some way, like i just need to but i can't as i am happy lol. I know what i mean.

:)

I really like Gospel music   used to say I wouldnt mind them at my wedding (if I had one of course which is probably doubtful) :D

Whoa- chick flick chat alert! Chick flick chat alert!

Right, on Bazza Lurhman's Romeo and Juiliet (cracking soundtrack btw) there is a great gospel version of Prince's When Doves Cry, sang as they get married if i remeber rightly.

Ah fuck it, as i am in cofessional mood i will also add that yes, i love this film- AND as it goes i don't mind a bit of the purple perv either. I think Purple Rain is a great album.

I know exactly what you mean!! Queue the groans from the Male contingency but i think it's a hormonal thing, i'm definatelty more weepy and sometimes feel like a damn good cry even though i've nothing to really cry about at certain times of the month.:cops:

Some films, some music, depends on your mood I think, not if you are down or anything like that, but (this might be hard to explain)..

If you are drawn into something, deeper than normal, an example of this for me was Nath's character in Six Feet Under - the way that was written for those that have seen it, was really powerful - in that he didn't seem like just a 'TV character' it was almost as if it was a real life friend the things were happening to! - if something draws you in that much, it can get very emotional - same with music - the strings in the soundtrack to 'The Crow' are just amazing, as is the beautiful music from the movie 'Cannibal Holocaust' (Riz Ortolani)

Agree with TC on these:

Moby - Why does my heart feel so bad
REM - Everybody hurts

Also:

Dodgy - If You're Thinking Of Me
Coldplay - Scientist (moreso the first time I saw the video) + A Warning Sign

I also think that music is used really well in films sometimes, you can get a powerful emotion out of a scene by playing a song or a piece of music at the 'right time'.

re: the Moby one , theres been times before when I've been really emotionally fragile, shall we say, and I've had this on and it seems to be inspiringly uplifting yet hauntingly sad at the same time , strangely enough  :S

Crying for good reasons is ok... sometimes I've been overwhelmed by some things people have done for me or what I feel for them , if that makes sense, when you feel all humbled / just realising how you love them to bits , (and I'm not necessarily talking 'romantic love' here! )

that's the kind of crying I was on about... the overwhelming emotions kind... not sat there blubbing yer eyes out coz ye down or owt... when I said I cry loads I meant it's the wibbling choking / lump in the throat, goosepimples, shivers down yer spine when you are holding back the moisture times...

I don't sit there blubbing for no apparent reason :$

(do you reck I've managed to recover any shred of stret cred by this clarification ?)

Who cares?! :D - I think its a good thing not be a bloody emotionally cold-fish , too many people are like that. Gotta have some fire in ya belly, be passionate about the things you believe in / care about, if you ask me!!
Good on ya Shoomie!

If you wear your heart on your sleeve then so what? :)

Nothing wrong with cryin ill tell ya,

Last time i almost did was when i was holding Shabba, at Timeless when the Floor Federation - Music For The Masses was playin,
Neil put it on especially for me, and then Trace shouted she wanted to see tears, as i said before i went "if that song comes on ill prob cry"

I had a few tears roll down my eyes, that Choon will always remind me of my highest point in going clubbin!!!

Lots of music makes me cry, very powerful choonz!!

The odd film also gets me, but its bin a while since a film did that to me!!

I welled up and shed a tear today for the first time in a long long while:( I found out today that i lost a friend in a tragic car accident. She was 28 and beautiful, to the point where women hated her and men only were interested in her for one thing. Sad that not many actually gave her the chance to show who she really was. I think thats what upset me the most. She was always surrounded by dickhead men and seemed to go from drama to drama. My missus and me took her in for a while as she had nowhere to live a few years back and got to know her well and ive allways had the feelin that she would end up somewhere terrible or do something stupid (od) or go out in a blaze of glory. The suddeness of it all shocked me for sure.
Anyway ramble over (sorry)
I cried today:(

I agree with you Amelie..... I cry sometimes for no apperent reason and then most of the time I realise why afterwards.... like money probs etc (silly, i know but i worry):$

anyways, the last time I cried was today..... I woke up paniking after havin this really horrible dream and after catchin my breath i had to check butty was asleep next to me.

The dream was horrible and to cut a long dream short, he left me coz he said he didn't really know who i was after he'd been asked, and couldn't answer, the question "what colour are her eyes?":|

I know it was silly of me to cry but the whole thing felt so real and really overwhelmed me...... prob due to it bein "near that time" lol. It was prob one of the worst dreams I've had.... I couldn't breathe for a couple of seconds after wakin up!! :|

Needless to say, butty reassured me, even in my moment of madness, and was so understandin and was really sweet about the whole thing!!!

I suppose I'm quite emotional really seen as the yesterday I cried when watchin 'edward scissorhands' lol:crazy:

Never at some shock win results from Hibernian FC

Oh I've shed a tear at footy before too! :$ Suppose its just something you get passionate about though, ive cried when we've won, i've cried when we've lost , lol (important, nail biting matches I might add, not just any random saturday :D)

For instance : when we won the cup at Wembley in 2000 -carried away with the euphoria / cameraderie in the crowd, all going nuts

When we had the game snatched away from us in the dying minutes after fighting so hard to come back from 3-0 down, in a play-off final - sheer guttedness / disapointment after the elation of thinking we may just be able to do it after all  :(

The final game at Filbert Street before we moved to the new Stadium - spine tingling send-off to the place I have many fond memories of, the emotion in the crowd especially in the final sing-songs, and seeing the ground being trashed for souvineers afterwards....I still have mine

Highs n' lows....couldnt help it :)
