I see mine everyday, no choice in the matter, hehehe. Seriously though, although parents can be increasingly cutting as they get older and more set in thier ways than ever before, I find I like to be 'bored' and be in thier company and am grateful that I have them here for company and that we get on well together. The thing with parents is (even those people who have rifts), that as time moves ever faster under our feet, its even faster at thier age and it wont be all that long before we are approaching thier age and they will no longer be with you. My advice is to make the most of them, spend time with them, get to know them, ask them about thier childhood and how they met each other, what thier jobs were like, whether they went to church, what thier mum and dad were like etc etc, even though its not normal these days to do so, becuase one day you will turn round and they will no longer be there, and that fills me personally with deep sorrow more than I can convey. We all dont do it, thats the trouble, and theres so much I dont know about them and so many things I never get round to talking about. For this reason, the song by Mike and The Mechanics called 'the living years' really rings home to me and virges me on blubbering sometimes when I imagine when I wont have a loving mother who is oining me for washing up or asking whether I want a cardigan she spotted in ethel austin or whatever nonsense, or a loving father who still amazes me to the point of dumbfoundment with his sheer genious and ingenuity or the way he gets awkward and sulks at certain stuff or does 6 months worth of gardening in one day flying about at 100 miles an hour and trimming the hedge by floodlight lol. Its the little things you will miss I think. So, although they can be annoying as hell at times, and sometimes cutting and sometimes your best freind, make the most of them, for time romps on faster than we realise. Now Ive gone and upset myself. :( Sirius.
