Did you make your own pastry ? Or was it a 'pie' with mashed spuds on top ? The world deserves to know.... :)

I made my own, of course- i was also wearing a very 'shabby chic' apron at the time. Its shortcrust, for the record, and i am gonna 'blindbake' it before filling it, to ensure that perfect combo of crumble and crisp. I might even go for a nod to the retro and put some leaves and shit made out of the left over pasrty, thats how home-made my pie is.

:)

I like to do a thick pork chop, with onions, red peppers and tomato's in the griddle pan so it goes all chunky and nicely browned, I add to the plate some Harry Ramsden Chip shop chips or some roasties, carrots, and either some spicy sauce or vegetable gravy.

Same with Chicken really too. lol.

As for actuall 'baking'.....well, I never really do that, so I wouldnt know. Havent 'baked' with seperate ingredients since I did 'home economics' at school.

Im more a get some rice/pasta, chuck it in a pan type, or in the wok, or whatever if Im being adventurous, or just whang sommet in the oven. Like Im going to be arsed sivving flour and beating eggs when I come home from work! Shame on me though.

Absolutely ! Pastry-making along with knitting, recognising birds / plants / trees are skills that seemingly will die with our Nan & Grandads generation.... if it doesn't come out of a tin, packet or can be zapped in 2 min 30 secs we are not interested :(

Shame on us all I say - retain the old skills !

I make a really nice risotto as well, my speciality is a spicy meat spesh. I use picante pepperoni in it, that I get from a deli in Horwich (I can't seem to get the begger from anywhere else). Ask Amelie - she loves it!

I also make my own pasta - woohoo eh!

what... rolling the dough out & twisting it up into gay shapes?
I make the dough with flour, eggs etc and I roll it out but I don't twist into gay shapes. I put it through a pasta machine, which dictates what it'll be; spaghetti, tagliatelli, ravioli etc. The pasta machine is basically like a little mangle that can roll it thinner and that, it's fairly essential for decent pasta.
