me and jiglo got the same thing in times square  2 guys gave us cds free signed them too even tried telling us to wave upto a window as we were on MTV then asked for the usual donation :S i had no change and when we started getting a little mob of them round us ended up handing over $10, one cd was dj whiteowl and i cant remember the other one, both were pretty dire, stupid thing is we went on a solo mission into the south bronx trouble free, suppose thats what happens when your in the tourist spots though.
i also noticed in times square, lads scrounging cigs off tourists, but never saw them light any of them  my guess is when you go into your pockets, hopefully his gang will see where abouts your cash or wallet is kept, or something. but where theres tourists there will be blaggers. imo of all the parts of ny we saw, times square was the least enjoyable place to be.
