do any of you lovley lot have either sky hd or sky broadband or even both?

sky are doing what looks a pretty decent offer at the moment with the 1/2 price hd box and free broadband. basically i could upgrade my sky to hd and change my broadband over to sky and apart from paying £75 out for the box, i would be paying less than i do now for broadband and normal sky tv from 2 diffrent suppliers :D

the question is, is sky hd really any good i had a quick look at it running at a store tonight and it didn't seem to be that much diffrent  and are there going to be loads more channels available soon, etc.

also is sky broadband any good ie, reliable, stable, good customer service etc.

any advice from anybody in the know;) would be helpful, especially now ive phoned my isp, to ask about cancelling, so they have offered to reduce my payments from £19.99 to £6.99 per month for the same service if i renew my contract for another 12month

ive had the broadband for about 3 months now
upto 16mb for an extra tenner a month! bargain!!, i was paying £25/month for 2mb of pipex!
so far ive had no problems, the speed can vary esp at peak times, i generally get around 10mb, but ive seen it around 2mb at times (im about 3/4mile from the exchange)
but i was in a win-win situation 5x speed for £15 less!!
i might give them a bell like Duke did!

cheers guys think i will give it a go then, i can only get about 4 to 6 meg in my area :( but the more i think about it the more it makes sense. £75 for the hd box, they were £300 not too long ago:| and even though there are not many hd channels at the moment (i wont be subscribing to movies or sports) i will have the national geo and discovery hd channels  and the option to pay for box office stuff in hd if i really want to watch a film.

my only real doubt was the broadband, im on aol, and have been for a few years and never had a problem:D so if it aint broke dont fix it. but when i can get the bb, hd, and a box that records etc like sky+ and a few extra channels for a few quid cheaper its time to think about switching. plus the black box will look much better perched on the black stand with the ps3:D

only real downside is the itv hd thing :(

hmm there only seems to be 2 hd channels available on the freestat though

correct me if im wrong here, but i assume that with a sky hd box, if you cancel after your contract is up you would still be able to watch any free hd channels through your hd box ?

if so then 75 quid for the sky hd box as opposed to average £150 for free stat hd boxes, and bearing in mind the sky hd box is also a hard drive recorder. is making the freestat sound expensive, i know you have to subscribe to the sky hd mix to get that £75 deal which would cost £120 for the 12 month. but if you have the choice of cancelling your contract after 12month and still reciving any free hd channels you only really have to pay about £45 more over 12month but will get alot more hd channels. except itv hd:( and free broadband 2meg (extra £5 per month for upto 8meg)

decisions decisions
