Second, good Italo that was inspired by Kraftwerk—robot-themed or space-themed Italo like C.H.A.R.L.I.E. and Robotnick. Third, Italo pop like Den Arrow—stuff that was made for the charts and heavily based on the image of the singer. And of course, all copycat Italo. Like copying some big international hit and changing a few notes."

i like the first two styles but not the 3rd and 4th.

I love a bit of Italian Disco and have a few bits although not enough to call a collection. Some of the early stuff is great and as mentioned inspired by Kraftwerk etc, some of the Hi NRG and music for the gay clubs is also pretty good although much of it is junk.

Lets be honest, Italian Disco was copied by many producers around 83/84 and gave us some amazing pre house Chicago tracks including http://www.discogs.com/Master-Plan-Pushin-Too-Hard/release/1735033, some UK gems like http://www.discogs.com/Quando-Quango-Love-Tempo/release/26296 etc.

I have a soft spot for a bit of Italo.

Some of can be cheesy as already said and a lot of it is shite, but there's also some right gems.

IMHO if its not got an instrumental on - avoid!

Interesting that Den Harrow was a Milli Vanilli style front. It wasn't him singing, it was a guy called Tom Hooker.

There is this, which was a WBMX play. I like the intro:

Den Harrow - Future Brain ( full instrumental version by Efix Dorati ) 1985 - YouTube
