One of the best films ever made, and one of my all time top 5 :D

It's amazing, the detail in this film, and how it all comes together, cut between reality (Vietnam) where he drifts in and out of conciousness, and his dream-like state, where he experiences the demons and the two different lifestyles.

Buy the DVD as there's a deleted scene which is quite important I think, concerning 'Jezzie'.

Always best to watch a film like this again, as if you don't fully 'get it' the first time, you pick up a lot more on a second viewing.

bloody hell, not seen this film for yonks, very good film, and a bloody strange one at that, thou couldnt give much info on it as i have the memory of a squid (why squid? coz i seen a documentary about killer squid on tv yesterday, they can attack you, forget, then attack you again coz they dont remember attacking you the first time) must take a trip over to play.com n grab me a copy soon i reckon

This is indeed a great movie...ione of my top ten...along with LEON.......its a true strorey that was covered up by the american government........ ;)

in fact i recall....Dr Alexander Shulgin...was once enlisted to work for the government in the phsycadelic field of research and he actually worked with the Dr......named Ladder.......but because he had to keep hush hush about it all......he told them to kinda sack the work as thats not wot he stood for....its a dangerous game testing human guinee pigs! :$

The best film in the world.....ever !!!!

A film about a guy who dies in vietnam, and his mind is kept in limbo between heaven and hell, because of the mind altering drugs they gave them as troops to help deal with the things or horror they saw in the jungle whilst fighting. In his mind he beleives he has returned home from duty, and is living a new life, only to be haunted by his son who died before he left for vietnam, and also a bunch of demonds i.e the saying ("If you make your peace with god, then the devils are really angels....freeing you from the earths soul") His Masarge guy (what ever you call them in there profesion) is his gardian angel.....and is trying to show him his way towards the light.

FOR THEM WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THIS FILM......READ NO MORE !!!!

When he eventualy makes his peace with god.....his biggest demond of all, his son stands at the top of the staircase.....beconing him to climb (Jacobs ladder) to join him in heaven (One of the most touching moments ever made in a moden day film IMO) then you see the sheet pulled over his head back in vietnam, as they relise his soul is at rest !!!!!

Still sends shivers down my spine....and a timeless classic from 1991....classic movie

think i got the jist on my second viewing

In a world of my own
For some reason I keep thinking of the old film Serpant and the Rainbow where that guy blows that magic powder in there faces and it makes them appear dead but they get buried alive, that seems a bit like this.
