Made this joke up- but i know for sure i heard it before we met. He is so convinced that he started this as a child, and it has spread across the land lol. I think he is just tryng to impress me, so you tell me have you heard it- and if so do you reck he really inveted it?

Two eggs in a frying pan, one egg says to the other 'god its hot in here', to which the other egg goes 'fuck me a talking egg'.

He also says he made up the fashion of putting a paperclip on your tie when in high-school, low and behold this also became huge across the land and thus he is ace. I don't belive this either.

Any oldies on here that either heard the joke or wore paperclips before say 1987?

I've been doing some checking and I found this reference in a 1989 paper titled "The origin and historical development of a linguistic form":

"Vicki Fromkin in LINGUIST 4-686 quotes the entertaining summary of Jonno's original post on the subject of the talking egg in the frying pan"

hope that helps,
f.

I definitely made the egg joke up, no two ways about it. I remember making it up at school (I can even remember where I was at school when I made it up). There is of course a chance that someone else made the joke up as well but I find it unlikely that two people would come up with the same scenario for what could be endless possibilities; two sausages in a pan, two cows in a field ("wet today don't you think"). The list of non-speaking entities suddenly talking is huge. Although it has to be said that the joke isn't very funny in the first place!

As for the paperclip thing, it was on the lapels of my blazer not the tie but I still made it up. At our school anyway. This definitely could have sprung up independently elsewhere though.

Credit where credit's due and all that :$

And they were both circa 85 if I had to pin down a date :|

Yeah yeah just like you invented Beef Stroganoff whilst messing around in the kitchen aged 7 with some leftovers from a roast. (I think you know you went too far with this one given the alarmed look on your own face as the words popped out lol).

Lol - T or L?

I'll have you know that the egg joke is now big! Here look at this, it was on the shortlist for the funniest joke ever. I wonder if it won:

So if it wins are you then going to say you invented the worlds proven funniest joke? Surley the real inventor will step forward for such an accolade! Ha, what a spaz you will look then, a right lying spaz.

LOL I heard the egg joke years and years ago. Not too sure where I actually heard it though, possibly a magazine or such like

It's the kinda poo joke Butty would come up with that :eyebrow:

We didn't do the paperclip thing in our school :S

I will vouch for both Jonno's inventions.

The Blackburn tradition of paperclip blazers was started by Jonno, and was thus known as "doing a jonno" around the entire northwest. There were many immitators, but it was deffo a jonno original. Didnt reach the burbs till 1992 though.

I can also confirm the egg joke. I remember it well, and I remember my stoney faced disbelief at such a shite joke all those years ago, when some kid told me it when I was playing out about 1986, Id just watched the A-Team and was out in the park when the said "joke" was told. As I stood there in disbelief, I asked "Where the hell did you get that from?" and they replied "Jonno told me it".

So, there you go.

Sirius.

Being slightly younger:eek: , I was around for the first wave of 'Jonno Jokes and Inventions' back in da day.
The first time I heard about it was sitting in a friends house when we were at school and her older brother telling us the egg joke. He too said he heard it from Jonno:thumbsup:

I used to hand around with this lad called Jeffo and one day I asked him to go to a rave and he referred to himself in the third person and said 'Jeffo coming' and I said 'Deffo Jeffo'?
So there's proof if you ever needed it:cool: Deffo:thumbsup:
