laptop trouble

hello peeps!!
ime havin g some trouble with my lap top...when i try to turn it on it powers up for about 5 seconds then goes of.

in the bottom left hand corner thers 3 little indicators one of them is like a lightning streak which i think is something to do with the battery getting charged,anyway this is flashing it turns its self.also the battery is stone cold.
i think the batterys goosed,but can anyone sort of confirm without seing it.....cheerz

if you take out the battery does the laptop work using mains 'leccy ?

If that's the case, I suggest getting a new battery

is your power supply making a proper connection with the laptop - I've seen loads of these go.
