[QUOTE="djperkins, post: 839480, member: 17130"] ...which spawns the question...what do you lot think of mp3 sales? obv owning a digital copy is not the same as the vinyl, but does it affect the value of your "stock" ? (previously know as our collection). Scince being a member on Discogs I am scared to touch half my collection incase I "degrade" the "near mintness" or whatever. I have been using digital setups for years, I love the fact you can edit and remix in Lab and then bang it straight out in cd quality...and there is no jumping/skipping or potential damage to your vinyl...but for me half the pleasure is touching the plastic that I've touched for years, sifting and flicking through the record bag...looking for something thats yellow with a squiggle on it....getting carried away in the mix and slamming the deck ...lol...well not that anymore but what I'm saying is that vinyl is a very tactile thing and I love mine, which will stay mine forever anyways If your a dealer and record sales are your bread and butter, then I see exactly why you would offer up mp3 sales, and for the punter who has been after stuff for years..pukka cos your not gonna buy Brass Disc from HMV. I thought about offering my collection up for mp3 sales on Discogs...but I'm an enthusiast not a dealer and would get a bigger buzz out of offering it up on here for free...to all the "true" old school heads who've kept the scene alive all these years...Discogs will always do good buisness regardless.
