He's gone !!!

Now you are going down ..

Leeds United have sacked manager Peter Reid after a turbulent 22-match reign.

Reid was dismissed after talks with new Leeds chief executive Trevor Birch at a Manchester hotel on Monday morning.

Leeds' directors held a summit meeting on Sunday to discuss Reid's future after the 6-1 thrashing at Portsmouth on Saturday.

An official announcement was expected to be made on Monday afternoon, with Leeds also required to inform the Stock Exchange.

The search for a successor will now begin, with Nottingham Forest's Paul Hart favourite to take over.

Reid only recently received a vote of support from the Leeds directors after his future was placed into doubt - but it appears the humiliation at Fratton Park was the final straw.

Hart heads a list of possible successors, which also include West Bromwich Albion's Gary Megson and Paul Sturrock of Plymouth.

Reid's future was subject to further speculation when he did not attend training on Monday.

Leeds are currently lying at the bottom of the table for the first time since 1980-81, when they were relegated from the former First Division.

Reid was on a one-year rolling contract worth a reported £850,000-a-year, a figure he will now pick up in compensation.

Lets look at it this way Tigger ...

Venables , experienced manager .... didn't happen for him ..

Reid , experienced manager .. didn't happen for him either .

The problems lie deeper in this club and it's with the players and or the board , changing the manager in this situation will only make things worse. It won't change the fact they have no money either.

If they had kept Reid , ditched the disruptive influences like Viduka and got some workhorses in on loan in Jan they would have stayed up without question and Reid was the right man for the fight.

It looks like they have bowed down to the high wage earners like Viduka who spat dummies out because they were not getting their own way , Leeds could save themselves 67K a week in wages if they got rid of Viduka , i know who i'd be sacking and it isn't Reid .

It really does look like Leeds are doomed. They need a miracle now

It reminds me of another club closer to home who had a quick succession of managers and high wage earners who werent pulling their weight. Look what happened to them

you might want to stick £20 on em getting relegated at the bookies so if the worse comes to the worse - at least you've made a few bob!

Yeah! about £1.60 at the odds you'll get on them bein relagated!

Oh Dear, Oh Dear! What a shame!:D

Worse thing they could have done is sack Reid, although I don't think he would have kept em up, at least they might have had a fightin chance in coming back up sooner rather than later/never!

I have to admit lads it isnt looking good. I still think if we get the motivation we can drag ourselves out of it. Things generally get better when Eddie gray is running the show. He knows how to get the best of the lads imo.

Message to all ya scum fans

" We will be here next season to kick ya arse"

Message to myself

"stop fekking deaming lol"

...........Reid also placed on record his appreciation of the fans.

"They've been fantastic with me and they've been right behind the team," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"The supporters have been brilliant all along. In 30 years I've never seen support like I did at the Arsenal game a couple of weeks ago. The fans at Leeds are fantastic."

Too feckin' right.
