You can (on some DVD players) disable macrovison, search for the model as if you were searching for a region code hack, and you should fine a similar hack for disabling macrovision.

It's annoying when you try and record a DVD for folks that haven't got a DVD player and find the picture is like watching the film through a washing machine window!

Could be, is he trying to do video to video then ?

There's a way round that, a little device called a 'Bug Blaster' you put in between the two videos and that rids the macrovision (I used to copy and sell pirated videos years back)

If that's the case, and you/he wants such a device, I think I still have one somewhere you can have, let me know and I'll check to see if I still have it..
