STOKE ON TRENT
minidisk

i bought one a couple of months ago, got a good deal at unbeatable.co.uk. got a walkman(basic silver sony) and hi fi seperate for £130.

the only reason i bought it was because it was a good deal and you can make good recordings on them, which will stay good quality.
but then again if you've got a decent tape deck i wouldnt bother.

the thing is if all your mates have got 'em thats fine but if i do a new tape i want to give out, no-ones got a minidisk so i have to convert it to tape anyway.

the next recording bit of kit i'm gonna get is a vynil cutter, there about 2-3 grand i think. got to be worth the money though.

does anyone know anyone whos got one of these or know anything about them????

Check out DJ Mag Ben m8, I have seen them in there now and again fella

They seem a lot of money, and not quite sure where you can get virgin viynal to press em on mate

The other thing is, the fecker dont wax the Viynal afterwards, wich will also effect the quality

My advice is you can get about 1000 pressed these days for around £500 quid, and waxed at the same time

So unless you are going to spend money on a waxer aswell as presser, then you may as well stick with getting someone to press it for ya mukka

mini discs are excellent. they are smaller than a walkman or cd player, they can hold up to 4 cd's worth of tuneage, which means no lugging about loads a cd's (and all the good times cd's are re recorded onto one lovely disk!!)

also u can record stuff from the internet eg MP3's, can re record loads of times, u can edit the length of tracks, and what order they go into, delete certian tracks, without messing up the other ones, which if ur anything like me and u like making compilations of all ur favorite tuneage, makes it a darn sight easier.

plus u can even record interviews etc onto it and edit it all around: which is how i recorded my interview with altern8. its being edited at the moment, and hoepfully will go up onto gifted after edting for swear words etc.

so its very very good!!

I really rate minidisk's especially for recording mixes. Their versatility is un-beatable. The sound quality on the output of a mixer is never really going to be up to much (compared with a single deck for instance). As such, the sampling rate of minidisc is more than adequate if you're going through a mixer. After you've finished a mix you can then split the separate tracks down at your leisure. I've also got a CD writer hi-fi separate. Using either an optical or a co-ax link and a "digital-synchro" feature between the minidisc and the cd writer, cd's are recorded with all the tracks in place.

im considering one of these...
http://www.freecom.com/ecproduct_detail.asp?ID=362

a lot better than mp3 players atm
bout same size as mindisc
main difference is it plays mini - cds, which can be burnt on any cd-burner
they hold bout 180Mb so bout 40 mp3s at like 5Mb each
the CDs r £7 for 5
as opposed to flashmedia cards which r like £50+ for 64Mb aint they?
can get em from argos for £99

why is it better than mp3 players?

£7 for 5 disks..are they re-writeable??

you can get a 20 Gig mp3 player, about the same size, that will hold about 4,000 mp3's ...no burning or disks involved..

but the price is nice

wicked, that means that mine is gonna be worth loads in twenty years time whe neveryone else has thrown theirs away lol lol

agree with ben, the best thing about them is that u can record lodsa times. i got ten free disks with mine, and i still aint got thru them, cos i just record over the same five ones (whcih hold about 20 cd's worth a music) when i get bored with one cd, i just delete it from the mini disk, and add a new one on. its well good!!

wouldnt be withoutmine...
