The story has gone now.
I got stuck heading to work in Blackburn on friday :$ I was following the satnav to Meins Road and it took me along Westgates Road, before I lost traction from the wheels and arrived at a padlocked gate blocking me from heading down it
The lady in a neighbouring house tried to help by bringing what she thought was the key to the padlock, but said it's going to hurt my car if I proceed, but someone must have changed the lock anyway, so I rang Blackburn council and they said it was a private road. Then I rang Green Flag and they wanted £90 to send a 4x4 recovery vehicle
The road was reminiscent of a damp but not cascading waterfall lower down with the steepness of the road and the craggy surface. Definitely one for vehicles with undercarriage clearance underneath, with a key to the padlock and probably downhill only if it's damp or from autumn onwards.
I was working at the house of one of our main clients and he was going to bring a bolt cutter for the padlock. I guess if the residents think the road belongs to the council and the council claims it's private, and there's no sign to indicate that it's impassable, then I guess anybody getting stuck has the right to demolish the gate and if I had an old 4x4 I wasn't bothered about I think I would have if I couldn't get back up
The Mitsubishi 4x4 rescue vehicle that came to my assistance got stuck on this road for a few minutes too:lol:
It looks innocuous enough on the map

Turns out it was just down a side road of the Woodlands pub that i'd been to many times before:$
