Has to be the original , when i left school in 89 , I started work at a clothes shop , my bosses had been out to Ibiza the year before and brought back a mix tape, we had it on during the summer of 89 , the original mix was on that tape and for me it pisses on any other mix....but its normal to be blinkered by nostalgia , but still its the best one, the hardfloor mix was just a formulae type mix , something that fit in with the Winx-esque vibe of the time...the afro acid mix was pure creation...well theres my vote anyway :)

I know what you mean when you say that the first version you hear kinda sticks with you, but I'm going to have to disagree with the 'Formulaic' comment regarding the Hardfloor remix. I personally rate that as quality remix, and a million times better than Higher State (Although a clever track). It was always going to end up in more commercial circles, but this doesn't detract from the fact that it is a excellently produced track, by imo the masters of the modern 303 sound.

Hardfloor mix everytime... just for what it will do to a dance floor! I played it at a house party with about 4 people on the 'dancefloor' - next thing I knew the whole room was wedged with everyone screaming and jumping around - it never fails.

It may be a formula mix... but the hardfloor formula works - if it ain't broken...

Maybe we should have a thread about fav hardfloor remixes... standby!

Cheers,
Si

Being slightly younger the hardfloor mix is the one I remember... I don't mind it but whoever said formulaic was dead right - how many hardfloor mixes were around at the time and sounded almost identical - it was almost like they had to cash in on acperience by churning out as many remixes as possible so you had yeke yeke, circus bells, secret cinema, then even tunes like blue monday and bassheads got the hardfloor treatment. And it all got a bit boring (or 'droll' as brixtim might say :p ) I don't think I'd ever heard the afro acid mix until a couple of years ago but I definitely prefer that one now as it has a far more unique and original sound to it than the hardfloor formula.

Nightmare. The original and the hardfloor are immense. Been listening to this a fair bit recently, funny it got a poll.

Hardfloor, just, for the bleepy aceeeeddiie bits.

LOL is right that

I voted for the Afro Acid mix coz it was the 1st one I bought & it truly was
a unique tune when heard during the night.

However I do love the Hardfloor remix too - great reinvention & I agree that break down will take yer fookin head off lol :fekked:
