Only came across OSA today after searching for oldskool tunes on t’internet for a NYE party and also finding old clips from Shelleys on YouTube during the Christmas break….made me feel all nostalgic! So, I’m originally from Stockport and although my glory days are far behind me (now that I’m 34 years young!), I do think what an amazing time my generation must have had and how fortunate we all were to be some part of history, as far as dance/club culture was concerned. I know I clocked up a fair few miles traveling around to clubs; made some great friends; got some great memories (although some of those pills didn't exactly help my memory retention I think!) and would not have changed it for anything ! So, I’m sure some of you will remember these places:- Manchester:- ·‘The House’, Manchester (was underneath Woolworths near Piccadilly Gardens). ·‘The Banshee’, Oxford Rd, M/cr (now since demolished). Had a fireplace on the dancefloor in the basement as I recall. ·Konspiracy. ·Soundgarden. ·The Thunderdome. ·The Hacienda…sssoooo many good times there! ·‘Harmony (for Jon and Emma)’ at the Hacienda. ·The Zoo’ in Openshaw on a Saturday night…in a bit of a dodgy area, but a real gem of a place where everyone got along and the atmosphere was top for a while! ·'Freedom’ @ The Boardwalk with Dave Haslam on a Saturday night. ·'Isobar’ on Oldham Street in the mid 90’s. ·The Hippodrome in Middleton. Stoke:- ·Shelleys (S-O-T) ‘Delight’ on a Friday night…who could forget those nights back in the early 90’s! ·‘Golden’ in Hanley on a Saturday night. Merseyside:- ·051 ·Cream ·Quadrant Park Yorkshire:- ·Back2Basics ·Orbit ·Hard Times ·Up Yer Ronson Lancs:- ·‘Revenge’ monthly all-nighters at Southport’s Floral Hall. ·Monroes, Blackburn. ·Sequins, Blackpool on a Saturday night (for one year only when some of the DJs from Sunset 102 used to be resident). Cheshire ·Legends, Warrington Midlands ·Eclipse in Coventry. ·Miss Moneypenny’s in Birmingham. Not to mention the Tuesday night 808 State radio shows on Sunset 102! I must be getting old cos' when I goto clubs these days, they just don't feel the same as they did back then! Happy New Year to you all !;)
