hi tucker, sorry for the late reply, i meant to get around to this earlier.

anyway, mp3 compression is something i feel should be done properly if you're gonna do it at all, so here's what i suggest.

i use a program called 'eac', which will be too awkward for a novice user (no offence), and more difficult to expain, but this will achieve the same results for you -

download and install cdex from here - sourceforge - cdex

then, grab the best lame codec from here - lame 3.96 - choose the 4th one down (3.96 final)

go to the directory that you've just installed cdex into, and replace the lame_enc.dll with the newer one from the link i've provided for you.

go into the cdex options, and set them up like the picture i have taken and attached. this will compress your wav's to high quality variable mp3's (where only the required bitrate is selected for the data packet being processed)

if you have any problems with it, come back to me through this thread.

good luck!

oh yeah, and to convert a wav to mp3, when it's all set up, just go to the top menu 'convert/convert wav file to compressed audio file' and point it to the wav on your harddrive.
