Silly thought really, VA sell his Italo Piano, i think not:axe:

Ya probably gonna scream & shout at me, but i use CD's for work, but only for the practicality and ease of carrying 4,000 tunes around in case logics rather than 100 Vinyl around in a box bag !!

There's no way i would ever sell any of my Vinyl though, but i have transferred quite alot of it to MP3 as backup.

If i could i would use Vinyl, for the hands on feel that you don't get with CD's, but theres no-way i'm gonna carry 4 or 5 record cases to work everytime i go, and still not be guaranteed to have tunes that people ask for !!

Just my Thoughts

The good thing about mp3's is people don't leave your mp3's lying around everywhere without their sleeves (including directly next to each other) after you've had a party.

And you can file them into any order that takes your fancy in about a second.

I think your all being a bit nasty to poor little mp3's
I only have mp3s and whilst some are crap quality I also have loads of top quality ones and then theres the fact I have some 7000+ tunes and how many of u vinyll junkies can say that :p
I would love to have all my favourite tunes on vinyll but the cost, time and effort I'd have to put in to get them just isnt practical not to mention the rooms u have to put aside just to store them.
I dont think any of you are better dj's than I am just cause u can scratch tunes in and I cant (yet, but I think it will be an option with mp3s someday) and I think if I played at a club using my pc and mp3s the crowd would be none the wiser.
I wish I had bought 12"s back in 91-92 but since I didnt I have no option but to either pay lots for tunes (hardcore which I would collect goes for silly prices nowadays £40+ for a decent tune is common) or to get tunes mp3ed off people like Dara/Lisa etc who are good enough to sort me out just cause there top blokes/lasses who know what the music means to me.
So vinyll = best, mp3 = next best thing :)

mm........... YEP, and then some LOL

(nah even the top dj's are using em these days, )
walking in wi' their little black laptops
and a few records

I prefer vinyl cos its visible you can touch it,

VINYL
Pro's Cons
looks nice can wear out get scratched
quality of sound bastard postie's thief or snap em
cooler <?> heavy, dusty smell bad
its just Vinyl init need a big storage space
4/5 mixes a vinyl ex's, smack eads can steal em
its a buz finding that long lost conquest
more flexibility in the mix bad mixin'

MP3
Pro's Cons
easier storage big meg computer
new technology soon to become obsolete
easier to collect miss out on buz of finding rare tune
computers viruses

their you go................vinyl will be spinnin' around alot longer while the mp3

will be the zz10 next week, and the aas9999 mk15000785632
the week after

technology's changing but we got to keep up, but not forget the past

in conclusion, am I on medication, and have forgot to take me dose..............who knows

i can see what you sayin bout vinyll wyds and I really envy the fact u have obviouslly got 1000's of 12"s but I think your sort of wrong about mp3s becoming obselete, I belive your right that once we all have huge harddrives then no-one will bother with mp3s and will collect wave files or even bigger files using greater dynamic/frequency ranges.
However, mp3s are really just wave files compressed with a minimal ammount of sound loss (I assume its compression like what minidisk uses ie removing frequencys the human ear cant pick up anyway).
If we do goto a new uncompressed format lets be honest most people listen to music through shite systems that fuk with the sound anyway so unless your a real audiophile with top quality audio equipment then you aint gonna notice the difference so mp3 will still be a relevant format.
I really want tunes on 12" and if I did have all my tunes on 12" I would still use mp3s to track down tunes and mostly just to send to ppl who appreciate the music but cant get the 12"s but like I said I dont have the money needed or the time required to track them down.
I've never had a virus on my computer from an mp3 or anything else :)

btw Im sick cos u have all those tunes and I dont lol  :D

Oh and I do get that rare tune finding buzz from the mmmmmmmmmmm :guitar:

i agree with those mp3'ers (is that a word????) in some respects.if i didn't have all my tunes on vinyl already i'd be seriously dubious of starting a collection now.the prices are too high (each to their own though) and the tunes are too rare...simple as!
i've never had dealings with mp3's at all really, although the couple that i've listened to have been good quality.i'd maybe use em as a stop-gap between listening to a tune before i bought it,no probs.the best online music sites are ones with mp3/real audio facilities...after all you wouldn't go into a record shop and buy something you've never heard before without listening to it would ya ????? that's where mp3 rules IMO,but as far as going round to your mates, rooting through the tunes, pulling out a classic record picture cover and all...vinyl wins.
on the other hand though,i can't move for records in my house and one day some are gonna have to go,whereas with mp3s you'd just get another hard-disk or whatever.

all the best!!

easy there marra!

i wasn't thinking of gettin' rid of the italian stuff....i know a really clever guy who can melt vinyl down and mould it into finely crafted italian style ashtrays (see what i did there..??).
anyone fancy flicking their hot rocks onto a superbly designed 'soulmasters-we've got energy' ???? how about stubbing one out on a 'tony carrasco-games' ????

best idea for an ashtray wins a copy of the ultimately rarest of the rare italian cover record:

ronin kaheating - my wife is a rollercoaster (and i'm gonna ride her) DIZCOMAGIK records 1992

answers to the un-ususal address.

all the best!!
