mp3 splitting

right been trying to split an mp3 up into seperate files so i can skip tracks but still keep the flow of the mix, thing is everytime i burn the bloody disc and play it i have a tiny gap inbetween each track :confused:

ive tried splitting the mp3's using all sorts of proggies, cool edit pro, cool mp3 splitter etc

btw im using nero to burn the audio cd

any help/info/pointers would be great

why the gaps occur and how to handle this

Hi PlebHead,

the problem is that if you split mp3 you'll split frames in most cases. then if you burn those splitted tracks on cd the burning tool converts them into wav format, which can't handle half frames. so the half frame must be restored, this means it gets filled up with silence. this is why the gaps occur.

so if you want to avoid those little gaps, just convert to wav first, then split into several tracks and burn with zero gap.
