MP3 Tagging

Guys I wanna tidy my collection of music files up but never fancy starting it...I wanna make all the titles etc in a generic way and get some tag info on them ...any one got any tips for mass doing this or best way.Ive tried a couple of programs but they dont read the mix tape stuff??
