Been waiting ages for this one to come out, and thankfully I've not been disappointed. I'm afraid it's one of those films you will either love or totally hate, and I loved it! (guess that's just the sicko in me tho' eh?!).

The story

A group of people enter a competition to win one million dollars. All they have to do is agree to stay in a big old house in a remote location for a period of six months. The house is rigged from top to bottom with webcams and is to be broadcast over the internet on a subscription only basis. All they have to do is stay in the house for six months and they get one million dollars. If one leaves, they all lose. Simple?.

Things are going pretty well, but things naturally start to go wrong with a week or so to go, the gang have obviously formed opinions of each other, and when things start to go a little crazy, paranoia becomes evident.

Comments

The first half of the film is just "setting the scene" really, and was a little slow. However, the last half hour or so builds into one of the most disturbing endings to a film I've ever seen. I pride myself as a bit of a horror film buff, and I can honestly say that this is totally different - not your run of the mill "hack n' slash" a-la Nightmare on Elm Street / Scream / I Know What You Did Last Summer, and although it may sound similar to "House on Haunted Hill", it's not, believe me!.

Nice use of sound / camera techniques add to the films quirky charm, and I think it's breaks a record for the use of bad language in a film. If I had to try to describe it, I'd have to say it blends the finest elements of "big brother" (TV series), "Blair Witch Project" (which I thought was terrible, although the idea was good!) and "8mm".

I'm not going to introduce the ending to you or let anything more about this film out, as it would spoil it. All I'm going to say is that I've never seen so many people leave the cinema without saying anything at all (my sister was as white as a sheet!) so it obviously shocked on a grand scale.

Overall

If you want to see an original and very disturbing horror film, go and see this!.

In my opinion, it's the best horror film this year by a long way.

Overall : 8/10.

PS - Don't all shout at me if you hate it!. It's just my opinion!!!.

hhmmm

Ah Pix! You just made me feel sorry for you (big hug) Signs was pretty well done for the majority. That bit where m knight shalamar (or whatever he's called) Says 'by the way I've locked one in the larder don't go in there' was creepy. Think the whole 'if aliens came down would they be hostile' factor is quite scary. Might go and see my little eye now

tis funny how different audiences react...most of the people coming out of my local cinema last night reckoned that it was crap. The odd "kin ell" passed my lips during it but on the whole I didnt find it scary....I thought the idea was good and the film COULD have been loads better but it just didnt do it for me..I reckon that "the others" is a scarier film!

Still, people have different opinions and some of you might shit yourself watching it...I didnt:(

Soz mate!. I thought the others was the most boring film ever!.

If we all liked the same, the world would be a pretty dull place!.
