n e 1 got search engine rankings sussed?? we could be gettin sheetloads more peeps here via search engines (at the mo 99% is comin thru links from other sites n word of mouth) but i aint got a clue how 2 get the rankin higher or how they work (i heard thru the grapevine there a art form in itself to suss)

il go on a learnin mish n get me head round em just thought itd b easier askin first

I remeber something wagg about the " meta names " and the order of the listings there in........ but it's just a little bubble in the back of my mind!

I can help. Really it depends on the content of your index.html page. You should always have a text heavy homepage because google (best search engine) and quite a few now search content rather than meta tags (html tags stuck in the head of your html page). Also bear in mind that it takes about 3 months before you'll get listing from a major search engine. But it you really want to goto town contact the webmaster of the biggest rave website in the world www.hyperreal.org you try typing in rave or any similar word in any search engine and that'll come up tops. I get all my hits just from being links from him. He's a top bloke called weed and he serious advices major companies on how to come up top in search engines and get payed big bucks for it. Tell him nathan from handsintheair.co.uk told you to contact him. If you get a link from there the members on here will double I guarantee it. Hope that answers your question !!!

and enter your url, Im not sure how many pages of key words you are allowed to use but I suggest that you copy and past that massive list of tunes that Ive seen on this web site as you will mailnly get people searching for information about tunes between 88-92 like a did quite a lot before i found this site, so if someones searchin for info on Joy salinas or someyhing you should be the only one that comes up , cos Ive searched on these toones before and I usually get nothing, you could get loads and loads registering that way me thinks.

Googles the best, not sure if you have to ay though, you could do what my company does and pay a small fee each mponth and they register you to about 200 search engines every month, its dirt cheap...Thats my 2 penneth anyway squire..

You could always where a T - Shirt butty with your website name on the front, and a message on the back saying

Yeah, with Google scanning for content rather than metatags a good trick is to stick loads of hidden text in your index page...

Just make it the same colour as the background so no-one can read it and the page'll look just the same.

Yeah, my mate used one of those firms for a company I used to work for and they are now #1 in Google and most of the other biggies.
