Need help, I want to buy a laptop for music production.

Hello everyone,

I require assistance choosing a laptop for making music. I don't have a clue when it comes to all these specs and RAM and all that jazz.

I was thinking on getting a custom one made solely for production. What should I be looking for, i'll probably need to get myself an external hard drive aswell right?

Im not interested in a MAC aswell, I know they're meant to be better for this kinda thing but Im not willing to spend 2 grand on a laptop. The most im willing to pay is just over half that.

Any tips would be appreciated thanks.

I reckon any decent duo core or quad core laptop will do the trick as it will have lashings of RAM and HDD space, the only problem is you can't have a decent internal sound card like you can in a PC.

I have this soundcard in mine and I don't do music production, I only use it for decent sound for listening to tunes and gaming purposes.
