nero making my life hell please help

have only recently started getting 'this recorder does not support this type of disc please insert a correct disc to write to' this is when trying to burn a dvd please help me am at my wits end. Have tried several types of blank dvds as well.

edit:- no other burning software nor windows built in burning software will see any blank dvd. So this must be a microshite windows issue. Anybody got any ideas?

Nath, im guessing you have two burners in your pc? 1 cdr other dvdr, when you open nero you need to select which burner to use mate, its prolly on the default of cdr, which is why it will be saying unsuported format? atleast thats all i can think of mate, sorry if you have already tried this, sometimes its the most divvy things that cause the problems

ahhh right, just seen your post in chillout, do a system restore Nath and restore it to before you installed the updates, should go back to normal then

put sp2 on recently cos that fucks up nero?

Nath i was having the exact same error msg but for burning audio.......seems all i was doin wrong was setting the disc up wrong!!!!

instead of selecting nero chosong the file to be burned then popping in a disc....i had to do it this way round........

put disc in 1st before doing anything...........

let the computer recognise the disc.....

you will then get the pop up asking what u want to do with it...ie play via windows, open folder to view files....etc........select create own disc!!!!

Nero will then come on automatically!!!! do everything else as normal from here and you should be ok!!!!!

honest it worked for me i know it seems simple but ive not had the msg since !!!!!!

thanks for all your info guys

the drive is a cd-r/dvd-r combo. It will recognise blank cds but not dvds!!! How weird. Tried a few system restores but will go back to pre xmas cause thats when it used to work. I'm gonna not do any system updates at all from now on and yes I am on sp2 ggrrrrrr

try using nero system info if you got 6 or above & see what that tells you

your aspi layers may be fucked or you might be using the wrong discs
