aye, when opus III came out the music press were on it in a flash trying to track down edward barton who by all accounts was an odd-ball.
i first came across him when i bought this...

which was described by mike pickering in the review section of the now defunct CUT magazine as "provincial nonsense, we don't need garbage like this". he was of course referring to the lyrical content because, hey, we're one nation under a groove right?
how do i know? because like a real saddo i kept that review. should scan it really and post it up. he's wearing a great hat in the picture. sort of davey crockett style. love mike p and always will.

Do you reckon Barton was sitting quiet in the background and cashing in with a backhander or sudonym etc? it's a big one to let go of.
