Donkey Story

The Donkey Story
> One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried
piteously
> for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he
> decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway.
It
> just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
> He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed
a
> shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey
realized
> what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he
> quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down
the
> well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that
hit
> his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off
and
> take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel
dirt
> on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty
soon,
> everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well
and
> trotted off!
> Now, the Morals of the Story:
> Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to
getting
> out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our
troubles
> is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not
> stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
> Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
> 1. Free your heart from hatred.
> 2. Free your mind from worries.
> 3. Live simply.
> 4. Give more.
> 5. Expect less.
>
> P.S.: The donkey later came back and kicked THE SH*T out of the bastard
that
> tried burying him.
> Moral: When you try to cover your ass, it always comes back to get you.

;) nice one pix, I love these sort of storys, they do give you a grasp in life just as you think all is going wrong

I got this one the other day, think it is one of the best I have ever heard. My boss thought it was that good, he even used it in his speach, at his daughter's wedding

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had som items in front of
him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise
jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2” in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The students laughed.

The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. “Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognise that this is your life.

The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job,
your house, your car.

The sand is everything else. The small stuff.”

“If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks.

The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and
energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.”
“Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities.

The rest is just sand.”

But then...

A student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly
full.

The moral of this tale is:

That no matter how full your life is, there is always room for BEER.
