That message means the monitor isn't detecting a signal from the PC.
Unplug the VGA cable between monitor & PC. Check the plugs each end to make sure none of the little pins inside are bent or mashed. If you've just moved the PC, there's a good chance thats the problem. We've all done it. If plugs at both ends are OK, reconnect them. Make sure it connects properly both ends and screw the plugs in (stops em getting damaged).

If that's not it, then are there 2 monitor ports on the back of the PC? If so, try the other one.

If not, power both PC & monitor off, then power the monitor on first. Does it have a LED which comes on? Next power the PC on. You should hear the monitor light up... a sorta fizzing sound lol... the LED on the monitor might change colour n'all. Often they'll light up orange, then go green once the PC's switched on. If either of those things happens, then you should be in business again. If it doesn't, then you're pretty much down to 2 options...

1) Power supply in your PC might be on the way out. Try plugging the monitor directly into the mains (if it's taking it's power from the PC at the minute), or disconnect any external hardware you've got... USB drives or whatever... temporarily to see if that fixes it. Anything you can do to reduce the amount of power the PC is drawing will help. It's only a temporary test. If that makes it work again then plug it all back in & try again. If that gives you the no signal message again, then the power supply inside your PC isn't up to the job. They do wear out from time to time. It's often the first thing to go with PCs, and can be fixed quite easily & quite cheap (depending on the age of the machine).

2) Graphics card has become unseated... can sometimes happen... leave the puter plugged in, but power it off & switch it off at the mains. Pop the lid off and look where the monitor cable connects to the PC. The socket might attach directly onto the main circuit board (the motherboard) or it might be on an expansion card which slots into the motherboard. If it's on an expansion card, then make sure it's pushed home securely.

Summat else to try, make sure it's not too hot. Heat is the enemy of PCs. Leave it turned off for a good while to cool down properly & then try it again... you never know.

Make sure cables are out of the way & not all stuffed in together round the back of the machine blocking up the air vents.

Lastly (and this is a proper long shot lol) pop the lid off, and get the hoover nozzle in there & carefully get all the dust out then try again.

If it's a laptop, there's probably a set of function keys you have to press to switch the signal to external monitor instead of the built-in laptop one... that would cause the no signal message too.

If none of that sorts it, your probably best off trying a different monitor... a mate's or summat... or a different PC with your monitor... a different cable... that sorta thing.

Good luck. Soz if all that's too much info lol.

Is it an old style CRT monitor or a flat panel?

Does it have a power LED on it and should/does it change colour?

Does the PC itself sound like it's booting up normally (even though the monitor is blank) or does it make mad beeping noises?
