had this since thursday. Really not sure about it. Have about 3 days to decide if I want to keep it. The nokia OS (menu system I knew and loved) has gone out the window. This thing now looks more like a palm pilot and where my old 6230 could take me to new text message or calender this one takes about 3 clicks. GGRRRR. Plus had to change my tariff (apparently) cause this is a 3g phone. so far I have had 3g reception about twice. Anyone else got one of these? I guess I should keep it cause in the future I guess all the nokias will be like this.

I think Series 60 interface is what all Nokia smartphones run on these days and will do for the foreseeable. I think the difference is more between "normal" (6230) and "smart" phone (N70) more than anything.

My opinion - stick with it. Or send it back and get an N91 when they come out next year.

but normal and smart should be the other way round.
These are the things I have noticed about the n70 so far.

• no setting for auto lock keypad like on my 6230|
• no option to view name and number when browsing contacts
• no way of assigning the arrow keys to take you places with one click

yes chicken:cool:

nathan .. if the shortcuts are in the manual but not on the phone itself, i'd take it back within a month of purhase an swap it for a different one. with it just being launched phones sometimes have a few niggles software wise. if the 2nd one isnt up to scratch take it back an get somthing different.
the phone should defo have a keylock an shortcut to feature though:thumbsup:

Or you could get a palm pilot?

have worked it out

this phone on the orange and 3g network have the best features turned off. Even though they are in the manual that comes with it. fuckers. The vibrate isn't strong enough either. The thing is I will probably keep it cause I can't think of another upgrade phone that will be any better and I AM NEVER I REPEAT NEVER. Buying a non nokia phone on orange.

ill try not to lose the f****r this time lol

what I am saying is. The 6230 had a feature where you could set the keypad to Autolock after say 5 seconds of inactivity. This was great. There is no such thing on the n70 and it pisses me off. Surely new advances in technology should be building on existing features not just forgetting old ones and making new crappy useless ones

I got one of these beasties n I love it to bit :D

Motorola A780

MP3/WAV/RM player
3gbp/WMV/MPEG/AVI player
wicked camera
256mb flash card included
touchscreen
blue tooth n all that jazz
but best of all - free, I say free Ashley, GPS Sat Nav which I've updated the dbase with speed camera alerts :D :D :D

Gerrin :D

best fone I've ever had bar none :D Get one got

the n70 has two camera right. One takes great big fantastic photos the trouble is when you film a video it is shocking. Have you tired this al? It plays like a load of slides rather than a nice streaming video. Have spoken to orange and I can still give it back for up to two weeks so very happy about that. Will keep testing it for a bit longer. Bring back the nokia banana with the SERIOUS vibration thats what I think ;)

I had a 2 camera fone before... a motorola e1000... bunch of arse... 3g is never gonna capture market share with the standard & quality of coverage they provide.... 3g is very gimmicky but I've never used the video calling once.... & the battery life on that fone was horrendous....

totally agree. 3G coverage is minimal and the battery life on this phone is terrible already and I've only had it 6 days. AL think about sending them back if I was you. Unless they are on voda

Didn't realise that was out - what network?

I got it on voda mate :)

birrova bargain this.... I was reading about in FHM while goin thru a carwash a month back... now there's a bit on leccy sunroofs where you think they're closed but they're not lol :$

water came floodin thru me window lol n drowned me motorola e1000 fone - buttons wouldn't work after...:condom:

I foned up voda to say that me fone 'suddenly' wasn't working n to get a replacement... they said they didn't have the e1000 in stock (prolly coz it was a shockingly shite fone) but they'd bend a few rules n offered me a new upgrade.... I mentioned this A780.... they didn't have it in but said if I could find it anywhere simfree & bought it they would credit my account to the same :D

I found it online for 390 quid & voda are sending me a cheque for 400 quid :D :jumpin:

I'm tied into a new contract for 18 months but I'm well happy with the tarrif I've got (1000 mins offpeak for voda & landline plus 100 txts) & I've saved meself 400 quid for a tomtom (which I was gonna buy n put on plastic anyhoos)

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesult :D :D

/edit - as this was simfree all settings (GPRS/MMS etc) were factory standard for 02 but I found the voda deets on the net & updated them manually - bit fiddly but it all worked :D

best bit is that the GPS facility is absolutely free & works like a dream :D
