"Mr Alsop's vision includes innovative solutions to urban sprawl such as extending Liverpool into the sea by erecting buildings on stilts up to a mile from the coast.

He also proposes transforming the South Yorkshire town of Barnsley

Other ideas, such as Stack - a vertical "village" where 5,000 people can live, work, worship and play - offers a twist on the skyscraper solution to population increase.
Mr Prescott has said he sees a northern super city as a potential rival to London's economic power and size"

"Mr Alsop insists that local identity would not be lost".

"The whole point of this is to celebrate individuality and uniqueness"

"stretching from Hull to Liverpool across the Pennines"

Ive heard about this today.

In other words, Seeing as London will be MAJORITY immigrants by as early as 2010 we need to throw some more up north. Seeing as the country is unable to cope with immigration statistics planned, we will need houses out on the fucking sea to accomodate the f*ckers and thier children.

The Stack - a vertical 'community' of 'Brothers' who can 'worship' and 'celebrate' thier 'diversity', 'uniqueness' and 'individuality'. Yeah Right.

It "offers a solution to the population increase". There are other cheaper and sensible solutions, like shutting our borders for good. Preferably before we vanish up our own PC arses.

Mr Alsop insists that local identity wouldnt be lost. Traditional 'identity' is already being lost now, never mind when all this increase in population from non european countries sprawls out 5,000 people at a time living vertically and worshipping!. lol.

As for the pennines - touch my regional pennines area and I'll come and personally scalp you mate.

Sheesh. I hope its just fantasy.

Sirius.

(of course, Im just being cynical with a pinch of what will be reality lol)

sirius i agree m8y

imo its just a re hash of the old new towns philosophy of the 60-70s
it didnt work in runcorn
southgate won architectual awards had under floor heating to all flats as standard ect ect
its now been demolished for a conventinal housing estate
castle feilds is almost all gone just a few of the rows of flats left

and this super city will be just outside the posh areas of green belt cheshire where the rich will live while us lot have to slum it in some crappy new super city

mega city1 here we come
next judge dread lol
