The " tire fesse " as they are called are just about the hardest thing on a snow board. Normaly they will give you a little sky to pu on before you can go up them, but in case they don't, you ahve to take one shoe off and try to balance the board on the way up.

If you have never skyied, you are going to hurt yourself with a snow board! I recommend that you try it out first, and maybe a couple of lessons would be a good idea! I have skied for 11 years, and I have to say that the snowboard is HARD!

A tip when you fall, never on the side! That will hurt your hips for weeks, and may even strop you walking for a while!

Try out the baby slops first. Buy a skate board and learn to use it correctly then you will be ok, but bear in mind that oyu are tied to it!

Make sure that the safety cog ( the thing that unlocks your boot from the board) is correctly configured before you go out. Because if it isn't, then if you fall the board will twist / brake your ankle /leg / both!!!!!

Never do more then 2 hours at a time! Take a break it is a VERY demanding sport! DON'T EVER SKY WITHOUT SUNSPECS!!!!!!!! even if you are not skying WEAR THEM! I have known people have HUGE eye problems because of this! Wear suntan lotion ( the more colours the better I always say!

A little cheat. If you decid to wear jeans ( like me :D ) Pop some long johns on underneath.... they prevent you being burn from the friction and they are nice and warm!

NEVER SKY ON YOUR OWN! always 3 people. If pone falls, one stays and the other gets help!

Now that you are well advised... HAVE FUN!!!

I'm going the week after you :D

Wa HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate I went snowboarding for the first time last weekend it is the dogs gonna get a board before next winter defo.
Belive me it is quite easy if you've skate boarded before or your balance is quite good. Boarding is more about balance than technique where as sking is more technique than balance.
Them tows are a tw@t stick to chair lifts if you can. I found the T bar tows easier than the poma tows.
I had a 2 hour group lesson to learn the basics of starting and stopping then went of on my own and had a right good time, by the way your feet are strapped to the board it dosent come off like skis do in a fall. But both are together so you generaly fall on your ass and dont twist yourself up too much. I fell loads just and come home with no more than a sore ass, watch for solid ice that hurts when you fall on it.
But other than that it is Excelent, where you going to do it.
