and probs pay off what he owed lol. i believe he never destroyed the records when they werent sold. its like a sale or return in italy.
I will explain that to put that little SIAE stamp on a record costs money and is a legal requirement in Italy.
The fee can be claimed back on unsold stock as long as the records are destroyed. This is one of reasons why companies have not got shedloads of unsold stock lying around - they destroyed them to reclaim the fee.
I am reliably informed that indeed he did not destroy the stock and also he managed a major clearout of the Discomagic warehouse shortly before they went bust.
I also believe, to the best of my knowledge, and a little bit of assumption here I must add, that around this time he was a very close friend of the original owner of ZYX (who is now dead) - probably through ZYX licensing so many titles from Discomagic - and he gave them the rights to the Discomagic back catalogue. I reckon money will have changed hands but I bet it was in a brown envelope, if you get my drift.
It took years of investigation to find a lot of this information out and lots of negotiation between ZYX and myself to agree to license the Discomagic back catalogue.
