TWIST - ill be there

Yeh Al, I'd av to agree wiv ya there, Ive got the tune, but that doesn't mean I like it!

How many times does ASHA have to get ripped off.

Pete Waterman has something to do with this tune! I may be wrong here, but if my memory serves me right, Pete Waterman played the piano for this tune, 'yes he's a shit hot pianist', but come on!!

Tell me about it!! It's gettin' to the stage now, where young peeps hear the 'Twist' track, and think the piano is stolen from 'Bros & Sisters', when really its stolen from Asha.

great choice so far

got to agree with every single one

except bit machine, always thought it was moby
for a good 6 years, so naturally i now own a hell of a lot of moby 12"

mmm............one more

(got to be controversial)

young mc - know how

(i still love it, but hearing it at +6
just don't do it for me)

I only like it if its on my decks and i've got both copies goin''

lets make that 2 more

2, king bee (at plus 4/6)

SLOW IT DOWN........................................... minus 2
(the basslines sounds even better / Funkier)

ps great original idea for a thread

Hmmm I think Young MC is OK, it's just overplayed, for some reason it's one of the only hip hop tunes that ever gets played in oldskool house sets (probably something to do with Paul Taylor!)
I dunno why this is though cos there's loads of other old hip hop tunes that could be played instead that are house tempo, it's just a matter of experimenting a bit.

Young MC..... hmmmm well it is well over-used but I do like the instrumental as it can beef up good tunes with shite beats.

Really for me there are tunes between 88-92 are not really over rated as over-used.... they definately loose that 'hit' or impact if you think "Oh feck *yawn* - ASHA/Bizarre Inc/Young MC etc etc again"....

Having said that any tune that thinks it's underground but really isn't gets my goat

Felix, Red Jerry, Urban Cookie Collective (WTF ??), Capella (92 onwards), Snap (Rhythm is a dancer ??) etc etc etc - feck off & die !

Well I agree with you there about Young MC, fella, I'm just glad you said it first!

*waits to be lynched by all the OSA crew* :S

Hee hee !! I agree too  but I also agree with Shoomie, its not so much over rated but over played. I do thing Know How is a tune, but Im sick to death of hearing it everytime I go out

Personally tho I dont think much of Hyper Go Go - High :$

jinny / kylie and visionmasters etc
etc

their are so many great tunes out their
and so when you go to these revivals / oldskool nights etc

i personally don't want to here the same tune over and over again

unless its sld 'gettin out' (i could listen to that all day)

Sorry, to argue,

i totally disagree with all of you,

i think all of the above piano tunes are brilliant, maybe it is because i am fairly new to all the piano thing (well 3 years) so i find most piano tunes wicked,

thats my opinion anyway,

ps.dont mean this in a bad way people:D

I quite agree with things being over played. As there are more and more old skool nights happning, I am finding myself going to more and more of them :D and as much as I love every single night I go to, cos I just love strutting my stuff to old skool ;)

its is nice to hear a DJ play tunes that you dont hear that often eg Recca, Ste H, Timo, Nathan, DJ Moose to name a few that I have head out more than once and play something different everytime (I mean no offence to any other DJ out there btw :) cos I do love hearing certain tunes everytime I go out eg Sweet Sensation, Screamer, Far Out, Bass Value  to name a few)

So big up individuality and originality cos I like to be surprised nicely when I go out  ;) Altho I do understand that sometimes you have to play to a crowd, but IMO crowds need to educated cos there are so many tunes out there that dont get the justice and air time that they deserve :drum: :phones: ;)

tunes which make me cringe

tunes which get overplayed hurt my head.....

.....and in the same instance, certain tunes (even thou they are classics) make me cringe when they are played. while other people are screaming and smiling, and prancing around like pricks...... i am kicking, or even headbutting the nearest wall.

tunes which have this adverse effect on me include:

K-Klass - show me love (arrrrrhhhhh....that bludy piano!!!)
Jimi Polo - Better days

the next two are approaching the above stage:

bassheads - anybody out there?
k-klass - rhythm is a mystery

does anyone else have tunes that make em cringe when you can hear em coming in???

later

IMO Theres 2 categories - The 'Over-rated and the Over-played' Now, most tunes I never tire of buit the ones I have heard FAR too many times include:

Bassheads - Is there anybody out there
Kylie & Visionmasters - Keep on Pumpin' it up
Young MC - Know How
Brothers In Rhythm - Peace and Harmony
Bit Machine - Somebody Real

Shame, cos I like em all.

Overrated =

LAN - Get Into My Life
Twist - I'll be there (If thats 'oldskool' then Im from Mozambique. it cant call itself oldskool cos its nicked a wicked oldskool piano)
Felix - Dont ya want my lovin

And theres more........

Have you seen the add for the new Euphoria CD- Fuck me some real stinkers on there, who ever compiled it was going to student discos not raves in 92.

Fair enough the line

'Im as serious as cancer when I say the rhythm is a dancer' makes me piss my sides laughing each time I hear it, but they weren't playing it at the raves I was going to!!

As for KKLass OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh Blasphemy!

Thats a beauty!!!!!:guitar: :guitar: :drum: :naughty:

I would have been killed if I had ever played those tunes and would have left a club if I heard any of them.

I can not imagien who will up buying that compiliation
