morning all - i switched my computer on this mornnig and it wasn't connecting to owt, ie. no t'internet, no emails, no msn etc etc. I re-booted it and still nowt, so i foned ntl.... told the bint the problem she asked me what the lights were doing on modem - i told her not much was happening, but then the 'sync' light came was but 'rdy' was flashing. So she seemed to think the modem was fooked. Now the problem is as my mrs is the account holder i don't have the mo fo clearance so she couldn't book an engineer, despite constant phone calls previously to sort this out..
so she says i have to get my mrs to phone them and give me clearance, even though we already have.. - anyway i digress :p
Cos as you can see, i am now online  You see i went downstairs for 10 mins came back up and it was ok.
Now, whats the problem i hear you ask ;) well, i'm wondering was it just a blip do you reckon, or do you reckon their is a fault with my modem and i should still get an engineer over to check the mo fo??
cheers in advance OSA I.T. support ;)

im like herpes....never quite fcuk hoff!!!
im on ntl and i keep having the same sort of problems, a message pops up saying ive got no internet connection, so i switch off and try again a few times and then it works!!

my friend recently had out the ntl engineers to replace the modem plug she lost, but they ended up replacing the whole modem because apparently there is a fault on some of them.

i must admit ive never got round to calling them coz it means taking a day off work to wait for an engineer.

let me know how you get on??

if your using USB to connect your modem to pc you have to reboot all the time, its flakey as fuck

use the ethernet connection and connect to network card, problems solved

unless ur modem is fucked, which is unlikely

aye - if its USB...

USB drivers are notoriously bad... use the Ethernet connection if poss, or get a cheap LAN card for a £10er if your motherboard doesn't have one - if you ise XP, no need for any drivers - just plug it in (with pc switched off!!!) and you should have less issues.
