That would be me then!. Yeah, I sent doolz and Simmo 'Far Out' and 'Your Love' in a midi format so they could analyse the pattern and a quick mp3 with a few beats on. I assume they were used OK...

Are you after a tune?.

Sirius.

Oh yeah, before u get carried away, note that Chameleon/Brothers in Rhythm 'Way It Is', S-Cape, and JT Company are a tad too hard at the mo. :D.

Hmmmn. Dont know how I feel about mi retro riffs being slaughtered by a mobile phone......not really what I had in mind for its destination. I suppose I could send you one 'far out' or something.
Better watch meself 'ere, I dont wanna be a MIDI slave and piss loads of folk off cos I dont like mobiles bleeting much, to boot. Theres tons of free dance midi files on the net and although some of them may not be 'old skool' they could still be good enough for a phone situation and you can get 808 st8 Pacific St8, Rozalla and OpusIII stuff relatively easy.
Folks wanting to recreate dance classics (more what I had in mind) and are genuinely struggling with a composition, send what riff you attempted and I'll see if I can help u out with it - thats probably best. Ill send you (both of you) YourLove and FarOut anyway for the time being. Ill defo get round to it by the end of the week sometime.
Hope I dont sound too 'funny' but Im a bit off par today, and could change my mind tomorrow. Also, Im very protective of mi old skool ya know!!.

See ya.

Thanks Sirius - Far Out would be well received.........

My e-mail addy is mark_matthews@uk.ibm.com

I can understand yr concern over not wanting to be a 'midi slave' but really my point was that I have a whole bunch of vinyl, Sound Forge and a Midi converter..... ripping to from vinyl to Wav & then converting to .mid it sounds fine but after upping from my lappy to my phone it sounds awful....... I guess that's coz the octave range on the phone is v limited ????

cheers m jaxx but the midi files is really what i want so that i can do exactly what sirius is suggesting above
we are working on some old skool tracks in the studio trying to give them some new skool flava and this would be perfect if we could sync them up to our synths and mess around with the original keys....

looking forward to getting to work on this....cheers both

Oh dear, I hope I havent given you the wrong idea here Timo... These are my midi riffs I play myself, not the original files by the track composers (Id give a hell of a lot of money for some of those!!!) and not full length tracks or anything as I can never persevere long enough to finish things. This is probably due to working on my own, which makes it a dead end when you get stuck with something, so you just scrap it and start again on something else!.

If you have a studio and everything, then it sounds like youre far better than me at music and keyboards etc (if thats what you meant). I cant read music and am painstakingly self taught on dance stuff only. Some of the original 'flare/pinache' and piano trickery that may have been done by the original artists may not be interpreted 100% exact by my ears or knowhow. I usually get very close, but not exactly the same if you know what I mean.

Your Love and FarOut are a piece of cake 'cos they are 'one handers', so you will no doubt be able to do this yourself - I will send you them anyway though. My recent riffage adventures include much more complicated patterns, however.
Have you made stuff like this before?. What have you tried?. How far did you get with it?...just out of interest.

Now then, what did I do with those two files?...........

See ya,

Sirius.
