IMO they are worse than htfr. Their shi**y automated service is useless and they know nothing about music. They offer discount on multiple items but when paying via paypal there is no facility to actually achieve this so you pay over the odds. Their correspondance is terrible. I never recieved any discount for buying 3 seperate records. Of the three I ordered one was the wrong one and two were badly marked. I left them negative feedback cause they have screwed me before and then they then left me negative feedback purely on the grounds that I had left it for them. I payed instantly and over the odds so how can they have the balls to leave me negative feedback for that. They offered me a refund but why should I have to go out of my way for their mistakes. I dread to think of the lengths I would actually have to go to to get my money back. Avoid at all costs. They are automated and you rarely get what you paid for when you want it.

join the club Nathan, I got barred last summer, they sent me a record which had a large round cigarette burn on the main mix,

not little either, fair enough if they can't grade all vinyl,

but that takes the pi55

never actually got negative feedback, I waited for them to leave me positive but they did ban me.

They used to sell all their tunes with a 1p start price, usd to get some real bargains.

that takes the piss. As i said before they know nothing about dance music which is why they used to start at 1p. Until they started clocking on to italian stuff being worth a bit

In defence

I know Bass Generator from years back, and can vouch that he does know his oldskool dance music as he played out a mixture of italian and euro gear back then. Ive always found him courteous and im sure if there was a problem and it is highlighted to him he will sort the problem out.

I don't think he is intentionally ripping people off, but probably due to the high volume of listings he has on ebay, might be finding it a bit of a struggle to keep everyone happy.:)

Just send him a polite email and im sure he will sort you out!

Never had a problem with them, had tons of records off them and they've always been spot on with me.

Try e-mailing them again?

Never just dismiss something until you've tried a few times, as you never know they might surprise you.

That's just ebay calculating the postage incorrectly. There's an easy way to get round that - get the sellers paypal email address, log into paypal through paypal.com, calculate the total amount yourself with the postage discounts included, and pay them directly through paypal instead of ebay. This problem is not unique to bass generator, I've had to do this with several sellers because ebay sometimes calculates postage cost per item and doesn't take into account the discounts.

I can see both sides of the argument here as far as bass generator are concerned... I have had a few tunes off them in the past... Bonesbreaks 2 which I got for 99p and turned up within 3 or 4 days... Another tune I had to wait a fortnight for... then I won a tune off them which the guy discovered when getting it ready to mail out, had the wrong record in the sleeve, so he did me a refund. In their defence they replied to every email I sent them, reasonably quickly.

What does nark me slightly is when sellers like bassgenerator (and the other one that springs to mind is a shop called 'oldskoolvinylrus') say "we're a very busy company so you'll have to bear with us on sending out your tunes or replying to emails... IMO if they have time to list a ridiculous amount of tunes per week on ebay, they should have time to make sure their customers are happy... this is where profit starts to take precedence over service standards.

That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy off bassgenerator again if they had something going cheap that I wanted - it's worth the risk :)

When he first started on ebay don't get me wrong i must have bought about 200 tunes of him (all to resell).

he sold me 150 rezerection bootlegs (had mental cube "q" & the manic pink vinyl tune on it) for £70 with free postage, which i then swapped in any shop that would take them for tunes i wanted.

ITS JUST HE GOT TO BIG AND STRUGGLED, GOT PI55ED OFF WITH THE HASSLE AND THEN STARTED SHIFTING STUFF THAT HE MUST KNOW HE SHOULDN'T HAVE.

all the positives you peeps have said on board but why leave me negative feedback JUST because I am a unhappy customer who paid them more than they wanted instantly with paypal. I can't see how you can do more than that as a buyer

Know how you feel there having had retaliatory negative feedback left for me before, when I had fulfilled my part of the deal as buyer and paid straight away... in fact the first thing I did was post on here and a couple of other forums to let everyone know what a cnut the seller in question was... unfortunately it doesn't tend to put people off if a tune they badly want is up for auction.

theyre a bunch of cunts, i remember buying something off them about 4 year ago and never receiving it even though i sent a cheque that got cashed....then they had the cheek to leave negative feedback to say i didnt get paid....only saving grace was they were about 10 mins from where i lived so i paid them a visit

think theyve moved to bristol now or something but a couple of mates have had nothing but chew with them recently as well...loads of snotty emails back off them saying stuff like we cannot guarantee receipt of payment and shit like that even when they have cashed cheques

Subject: FEEDBACK.

Hi nathan..
I was extremely disappointed to see you had left 2 neutral feedback comments regarding our last transaction.
You are an experienced ebay user and should know better!
As per our trading terms we have reciprocated with 2 negative feedback comments.
Neutral feedback is the same as negative feedback to just about every ebay user! You have made a complaint about our service in a public forum. We had already promised you a refund with no question so for you to leave neutral feedback is petty and totally unnecessary.
Had you mentioned that a refund had already been arranged we may have let you off but you have made us look bad when we had already met your need to be satisfied.

If you have returned the records to us for refunding we will not refund the money to you unless you remove the feedback comments using ebay’s mutual feedback removal service.

CLICK ON THIS LINK....... http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?MFWRequest

You can claim for a refund through paypal but it will take up to 60 days. We will then block you from bidding on our future auctions.

There was absolutely no need for this to go this far, we pride ourselves on our customer service and take it very badly when it is thrown back in our face.

Guy+abby

Very happy you have contacted me regarding this. I find you totally unprofessional and out of order. Neutral feedback is the least you deserved after sending me records that are not what I wanted and even if i did they were unplayable and NO neutral feedback is not the same as negative feedback.
Answer me two questions. ...

1) why should I have to go out of my way and repackage the records and go to the post office in my own time and using my money because of your mistake? Who knows how long I'd be waiting for a refund from you, I know its been a huge hassle in the past.
2) I paid over the odds for post and packaging and you made no effort to refund me the difference. Instead you replied saying you were going on holiday and had too much on. So answer me this. If I paid in full via paypal immediately why does that give you the right to leave me negative feedback? Isn't that really childish and petty of you. After all there isn't really much I can do better as a buyer is there? I suggest you start selling in smaller quantities or employ more staff cause your service is well below standard and you know what? Since your leaving me negative feedback I have discovered quite a few people who are very unhappy with your service. Would you like to see their comments about you?
Cause I have considered your actions a personal insult I intend to let as many people know as possible about the way you have treated me.
Nathan.

Just read what they've sent you Nathan and im not impressed. Ive had a few bad pieces of vinyl off em, but then Ive not payed over the odds for em. Still you pay for an item, you want it to be in a playable condition.
It's a no win situation with that feedback bollox, you know you cant leave negative feedback, coz no matter what, the other person will retaliate, even though you urself know ur not in the wrong. The seller waits for a posi feedback n then leaves you a posi feedback, you leave a negi feedback, the seller will leave you a negi feedback, you cant win.

this begs the question.... which one of you told them about this thread?

I'm assuming you are referring to this:

bassgenerator records said:

I think their term 'public forum' relates to eBay itself, as it's public, ie anyone can view the feedback.

If you had thought it meant this forum, I can't see how that would be possible, when you created this thread 9th March 2005, 07:09 PM and they replied to your e-mail at Wednesday, March 09, 2005 3:27 PM (unless they own a time machine?)

Just reading through the whole thread and it sounds like you have just gone off on a rant without much thought.

Sorry if this comes across as judging you, but having seen the way you go off about things without thinking them through (whining about Microsoft when it wasn't them at fault) makes me wonder.

Had you left them feedback without much contact from your part? As that is unfair if you have, they seem genuine in wanting to have sorted you out with a refund, if you've not allowed or delayed your response to that, and then left feedback first, then that's out of order.

Again, I'm just guessing, as I don't know you, or your actions.

Btw, I don't work for them lol, but I'm just giving a different viewpoint.

Hope you manage to get it resolved anyhow.

Edit to add:

nathan said:

So I take it from that comment that you didn't go ahead with the refund, and you've kept the records? :axe:

If that is the case, that's you just being lazy. If you're not prepared to meet them halfway, then I agree with the feedback they've left you.
