I always heard Candi Staton - You got the love as a gospel song. Has to be about God.

Same with Seven Grand housing Authority - the question. Always seemed like a religious plea to me. I think Terrance Parker has since gone Christian, which sort of half proves my theory.

I've been thinking about a 'God mix' for a while, stuff which actually mentions God, or is based on it.

God's child - BBT (played this at Pauly and Sarah's wedding)

Rise Up - Sun Kids ft Chance Its a funky houser, but again, the chorus 'Rise Up!' always has me thinking of gospel.

Very good threadage Shoom.

Ce Ce Rogers - Someday

Inner City - Pennies from Heaven

I think Orbital Belfast is sampled from a religious recording, someone will confirm. Again, I think its a very very spiritual record.

Am not sure you get this the same with modern tunes, I think it might have ben the 'E'. Pretty sure I read some medical reports saying that the effects of ecstacy are very similar to the effects experienced by those of religious devotion.

In the early Shoom days,we would not have any food for 6hrs before going the club and jenni would not allow any booze in the venue,it was only lucozade due to the fact it being a fitness centre. At the time it seemed very spiritual but thinking back it may of been what we had....

I'd have thought dancing all night on an empty stomach would heighten it as well.

Mad that Shoom was no booze, although no doubt people would have a few before hand. Have read a bit about it recently. Happy days indeed.

no gospel, no disco, no disco, no house - it's roots music - some of my favourite stuff ever is vocal driven spiritual house music.
most of your 'big name' diva's & soul singers were Gospel Choir singers originally - they were only ever injecting that experience into what was then a new scene.

Choking up at Sterling Void. (Its the medication!) What a record that is. It still sounds great 20 years on, and the production hasn't really dated. Going to have to get one.

Just been playing that funnily enough Ed :D Reason for why is that I'm doing my lil step-sis 21st pardeeeee & cobbling together a Shooms 'fuck everything together' set....

Now my Dad's family are a happy-clappy God bothering lot from a small rural hamlet in Dorset where the church is the epicentre of the community... the party is in the local church hall...

They've never really 'got' house & I wanted to chuck in some powerful spiritual tunes to give em a flavour of how emotional it can be .. :)

PS Your PM mate - yer shit out of luck - not got a copy of either anymore soz :(

Nay worries, cheers anyway. Hope you'll be playing soul limbo with push it.

Its not the God botherers that worry me, its the people botherers....
