Lol will probably just rip it but just wondered if anyone has had similar experiences... I reckon he will probably claim the cash back through paypal anyway... Unless he's a dodgy anti piracy dude that wants to catch someone out ;)

If you have kept the mail requesting the mp3 of the track and keep a tracked copy of the mail you send him with the track then i dont think he will be able to claim the money back.

Still nothing much to lose if he does.

I don't see a problem here. I've done it before for people .. A great idea I think but I'd be just too wary of the quality of other people's rips!

It would be nice if discogs allowed this but I guess copyright issues keep it underground.

Ive also been offered money for mp'3 too. Only once have I agreed to giving out a copy and that was Corrado Trust on cd in person.

Selling mp3's is shite, if you want the tune then go to the effort and buy the record.

I get asked loads for rips. Some offer cash but most don't and just want freebies. I usually reply with a link to the record for sale on Discogs and then wait for the standard reply... "don't have decks any more" yeah, like you had them in the first place lol :king:

Ive been asked quite a few times and ive been offered money but never taken it.Sometimes they will offer to rip something of there s for me if i find something in there collection i would like wich is probably a better option.

Ive asked for a rip only once that was for Smaller Than Zero and they were good enough to do it for me.:D

I ripped a track for one guy then he came back the day after and asked for another so I did that one for him as well when he came back the third time i just ignored him;)

I know of at least 3 people who buy vinyl just to rip it then sell the item as they dont use wax.

Its unlikely to be a scam imo, just someone after a tune... many people who play using 'files' are still deperate and will pay good money for rips.

I think the best advice is to point people to a legal download site or dont reply if you are not prepared to rip it.

If you want to and are willing to rip it go ahead and buy a tune with your fee ;)

Without starting a big debate there cant be too many tunes that people want where there are not rips floating about...

*Edit***

Vinyl will always be king :king:

Ill continue to say that even if I sell up too

Thought we was in it for the love of the music, not to be smug bar-stewards by having a vinyl copy of a much loved tuna someone else needs for their collection, and gloating?

You think having a tough to obtain hard copy somehow makes you a better person?

Your not playing football any more, i'm taking my ball back.

Jesus wept.:S

If anyone wants a rip of anything of mine i'd do it gladly, i know that they are getting pleasure time after time, every time its played, and that makes me feel good.

A bad rip is sometimes better then no choona, full stop?

If a tune means summat personal to someone & is special to them in some way I'd rip it, no cash anytime, everytime...

The danger is that whereas vinyl of a tune is limited to a finite number of presses, MP3 can be copied & profilerated & get viral and almost devalues the vinyl... not necc in a monetory sense but in so far it's no longer as 'special' coz every cunts got it... sorta like when underground dance music charted & then it got played in the local Ritzy.

I hate the way it's possible to drag & drop MP3 collections that would've taken vinyl heads years digging in crates... it's almost disrespectful to the music

Yeah i agree with you there shooms, i know a few djs who used to cover over the labels of the tunes they played back in the day purely because they had to crate dig for them long and hard back then. Unforunately its too easy to buy something nowadays with the internet being so accessable but i spose those are the days we live in, nothing better though than having a bin dip from time to time and grabbing a few records that youve no idea what the hell they are till you get them home and play them.
