Just wondering if any of you know anything about projectors at all? As in the big feckers you can watch movies on and shiz

Do you mean the old school 35mm reel to reel type, or the SVGA ones you can get in place of a telly?
Can't help you with reel to reel ones, but i know the basics about the other sort... not an expert mind...
You can get HD 720p ones (around 500 notes I think). Not sure about 1080p. I'd imagine they'd be big money.
MUCH better image quality than a TV, with none of the drawbacks & compromises of LCD or plasma screens.
Downsides... they can be awkward to mount properly (and unless you do that you can lose all the benefit of them), likewise you need a big room and a proper screen to project on to really. Also in most cases (depending on the room) you need summat like blackout blinds. Not ideal, and a bit of a faff when you just want to catch the end of Corrie so not really a "replacement" for a telly, but if you watch a lot of films they are perfect.
As part of the never ending project to do up my house, I'm hoping to build in all the necessary bits and bobs to install one in my front room, then I'll bin off the big screen telly & just get a smaller one for when the projector is too much faff.
Quite a sizeable undertaking though... running/hiding all the cables etc. Especially if it's ceiling mounted (which is best I think), even more so if you do stuff like auto blinds for the windows... nicely hidden auto screen etc...

My old mans just bought one of these 3M Projectors: 3M MP7740i 3 LCD projector Cost him £80 off ebay with packaging.. When it arrived the lamp was broken (pisser) He now has the task of grabbing a new lamp.. He does'nt want to send it back to the seller as he says he has grabbed a bargain on the projector.. I know nout about em me? It looks like it has all the bizz on it but?
New bulbs are like £160

I got a toshiba one i bought around 2 years ago.
its a DLP type, works ok, but i find the colours arent true. also what you got to watch with the cheapo ones are how much a replacement bulb can be. they can work out more expensive than the actual projector. So worth pricing them up before any purchase
i hook mine up to the xbox mate, its ace call duty is wicked on it, and fifa09
