so you have a Desktop with no screen and a laptop, and you want to work off the tower and use the laptop as the monitor but you want to store all your info on the laptop ?

Why not just work off the laptop if thats where everythings stored and thats which screen your using, and if you say you dont like the mouse pad, just buy a mouse for the laptop, or plug in the mouse you already have.

I dont think there is any way to plug in the Laptop Monitor to your desktop PC, the best way you could do something like that would be to run a VNC connection between the 2 of them, that way you can run programs on the desktop but view it from the laptop, this will work ok as its a direct connection over a LAN but it might get pretty choppy running videos and watching them and shit.

yeah if your wanting to play music from the tower then the music will need to be stored on the tower so your better networking them and trsfring music over from the LT to the tower mate

You can use your laptop as an external monitor for your tower by using MaxiVista ( http://www.maxivista.com/ ). There's a free demo but I don't know what the restrictions are. The full product costs around £18 so its not exactly going to break the bank and will allow you to use up to four networked machines as additional monitors.

Have a look http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/northrup_multimon.mspx for a stack of stuff on what your trying to do.

Alternatively, if you just want a remote desktop connection then have a look at WinVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/winvnc.html) or Dameware (http://www.dameware.com/), both are free which is always nice.
