Just got home today and the nets really slow  . Took me a restore, three reboots, 7 disconects and redials to get this far :| .

Its flakey, hanging onto a connection by a thin thread. Ive managed to get the Avast free virus scanners so far, and its running now, but Im not sure if its a virus or not.

Any ideas what can be making it so painfully slow and very dicey?

Cheers chaps/chapesses

In a Pineapple under the sea
 Mate,
Have you tried all the obvious like checking for spyware? give ad-aware a run through and use window washer too, to clear out any bad stuf on there.
Does sound like that is the problem though, If you ain't got the apps then get me on msn and I can help you out

No idea as haven't used ADSL for yonks.

Did you get microfilters with your setup, might wanna check them, and get BT to do a line test for ya just in case like.

Otherwise, try another PC with that connection, see if it's the PC..

Thanks chaps.

Ive run Spybot, a few DSO exploits and cookies. Didnt help though, I did the avast antivirus too, and another on re bootup process.

Its really flakey, webpages dont load, they get a few bars and stop, I cant get on messenger, it keeps dropping out on even a refresh. My 56k wasnt even this bad  .

I thought I may have the sasser varient, but I can get online so it mustnt be that.....:S .

Maybe alright tomorrow, but if not, I'll have to nab my dads laptop tomorrow night and see what the hells goin on.

Thanks

Sirius.

Do you go through a proxy?

Might be worth trying out another one, or if you don't use one, maybe stick one in and see if that fixes things like.

In a world of my own
its probably like butty say, a prob with BT lines due to the weather,

Check all your connections and Filters,

if you have more than 1 phone, plug the filter into the box thats directly in the house then try to get int access from there without the other phones in place, if it works fine from there with no phones plugged in then you know that theres a network problem with your comms and from there its trail and error till you find the problem
