Recording higher than that is a waste of time in my opinion bud.
CoolEdit/Audition only goes up to 192 for waveform recording, where for a stereo .wav file thats uncompressed in its raw format I was under the impression that a wav file at 44.1 at 128 was equal to CD standard, and that its only when you use compression to mp3 or whatever afterwards that the aspects of hz start to play a role and degredation applies as you are effectively cutting out frequencies identified by that frohenhieser guy or whatever his name was that are supposed to be inaudable, hence the massive file size reduction.
I usually only record at 48000hz for wavs, or if somebody wants a studio class production from music making software, I aim for 96,000 to be on the safe side. Any higher than that and I think you must have to have bat ears to tell the difference bud
. Honest.
Then I save to mp3 higher than CD standard......but maybe I have cloth ears?.
I tried it for a few months on and off....for free its a bloody dream, but I was that used to Cool Edit, I ended up getting a copy from the usual chanels. Id still say its a credible piece of free software, theres not that many that have a relatively good interface.
So, I dunno really bud. I dont think you need higher than 96,000 for raw wav format files. Somebody may correct me on that.
Sirius.
