Hi,

I am wishing to MP3 my vinyl collection and need to know
what the best confuguration is.

My hardware setup is as follows:

Technics 1210 Turntables
Technics Stereo Integrated Amp
Technics Mixer
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card.

What is the best configuration? Do I record via the mixer
or Amp?

AND

What is the best software to use and the ideal settings within
the software??

Any assistance would be appreciated..

Cheers

Scott

Record from your mixer output into pc soundcard. I use a two phone splitter down to single small head phone jack into sound card (maplin £2).

Software I use is Audio Cleaning Lab Deluxe (~£15 Amazon). Just record from your mixer onto pc by clicking a single button. Very easy to use, I didn;t even read manual!!!

Also cleans up sounds well, getting rid of cracks, pops etc on my old vinyl, even ones in some terrible states!!

Just need to be careful setting up output vols in your control panel in windows etc.

Anyone else use decent packages? To me audio cleaning lab is a great package for money. Can edit wav files and cut/paste sections etc. Then easy to make a cd and convert to mp3..

Recording From Your Decks

I record direct from my mixer to my PC using a phono to Headphone jack lead.

The software I use is Goldwave. With this you can change the recording levels and the rate. You can also edit the recording afterwards. You can cut and paste and also fade in or out selections plus lots of other things which I haven't even looked at!

I then use a little program to convert my wav files to MP3. This isn't the best way to do it, but I got all the software of free and it seem to work ok and sound great!
