Can anyone advise here? Got myself in quite a mess lol. I used to be on BT broadband 'Classic' (The first one BT did when broadband came along), and me and my brother used his account and a BT Voyager USB modem. My brother has long since moved out into his own house and had two kids since then, lol, and my dad has started to work from home instead of renting office space. We asked BT to change us onto BT "Option 3" broadband, cos it came with a wireless compatible router, the 2091. We asked them to get the new connection going, and once we were fully connected, to then disconnct the old Classic account. Lately, I havent been able to connect to the internet, cos I think the wireless router thats plugged into my desktop PC as the 'master' (cos my dads on a wifi laptop) is overheating. Its getting really hot. It keeps simply telling me that 'my router is not ready to connect' or its 'handshaking' - we then have been sitting it on the ice cube tray, turning it off for an hour and then we seem to get on again.........for a while. Theres a few possibilities - either my modems fooked, the warm weather is making it go bonkers, or, its something to do with the new dodgy Windows XP SP2 OEM version Im using, which, I installed roughly at the same time things were going bonkers. Ive found my old ADSL USB modem out, and put my account name in, and it said it was an invalid username/password - - - so,,,,,,,,,I tried the old one m and my brother used - and it STILL WORKED :| ...... it should be for example siriusthegeek@btinternet.com....... and on the old account it was sirius.geek@btbroadband.com So, I then disconnected from the old account, and entered a combo: siriusthegeek@btbroadband.com, added the password for the new account, and hey presto, Im online again with my old modem. My question is.........what the f'cks going on? LOL. Do you think my wireless router is faulty.......or is it my dodgy windows......why wont my old modem connction accept "btinternet", but will accept "btbroadband"..... which one should it be? have I set it up wrong? Is my new account supposed to be @broadband.com? Is that why it keeps disconnecting? How can it let me on most of a day or night if its the wrong extension? Do you think Id be able to get another free wireless router if I spent 5 hours on the phone to India trying to explain I dont want to troubleshoot, I just want flippin replacement modem? lol. I dunno whats going on :S :axe: Cheers Sirius.
