Just been listening to an old Sy tape quality old skool hardcore. I hate the way he scratches on practically every tune. I get sick of hearing it. Don't get me wrong a bit a scatching is good but every tune and with weird noises like cuckoos shagging really annoys me.

I love scratching, but yeah, too much/too much at once does piss me off to the point of saying "For feks Sake, just put the fekking record in!".
On the whole its ace, but there is a lot of cases of over doing it I suppose. Sy usually manages to get a good balance though, but I cant comment on the said tape.......

Id love to be that good, perhaps its just "Vinyl Envy" lol.

See ya

Sirius.

He does it for 80% of the tune and forgets hes got to get his next tune ready, then just chucks the next tune in spinning the old tune out, quality:D

Scratching imo is wicked, As Oldskooldazed says Sy mainly uses the ''Bounce' set of sample records for his scraztching but you'll also find he scratches in alot of tunes - So he's not forgetting about mixing and then just slamming the next tune in.

I've just been in Poland for a couple of weeks and there was this DJ scratching over the top of this hard jungle. Fookin' shit he was - don't give DJ's free drinks is the lesson here.

Yeah I agree scratchin is amazing in small doses but not for all the record

Yeh, I agree wiv Ste! Scratching has a time and a place, and I personally dont think you can just scratch anywhere! Scratching is originally an effect/trick used in hip hop when breaks where dropped in repetively or to fill a blank/instrum/or where the DJ was able to show off.
Some dance music I personally think scratching is a NO NO! Peeps who mix TRANCE, thats defo a no no for scratching, deep grooves can be a no no, unless the scratch is positioned perfectly!! I'd say if youre playing house / old skool! Scratch about every 10 to 15 tunes, If you've only got 1 or 2 rhythmic/melodic scratches you dont want to here it every 2 feckin tunes!!!
Thats all 4 now!!!!! :D

Yeh, top scratcher Jazzy, he was the 1st to use (You could call him the inventer of...) the birdy scratch and numerous other tricks! Thats the scratch, which, if I remember rightly, DJ Sy uses alot!!!
