Right yesterday from Tezzers i bought some Charmin loo roll. Now this is special as it says its 'twice the size' or summat. So, morphing into deranged housewife from the 50's i was telling Jonno about this ,no doubt whilst darning socks or whatever shit those crazy gals did, (and to think my conversation was once considered 'stimulating', where art thou stimulating convo?) and i said its double the depth, and he said 'don't you mean length, double the lengh'. No, i mean depth. The bit from the outer sheet to the last sheet next to the cardboard its fecking huge, hence it having a big depth- say looking at it side on. He, being both stupid and argumentative after two cans of Skoll refuses to budge and is adamant that this would be considered legnth.

What do you reck, holding a loo roll in your hand, holding it side on so you can see the full hollow circle- would you call the tissue bit depth or length. I mean, if you have a double size bastard like i have would you say 'look at the depth of this baby, its a right monster'. You would though would'nt you.

:)

In fairness it was described as double the length (the length of a single sheet) so I said it was double the length.

Now I've seen it though I can say it is double the length and double the depth. It can be both!

i'll add my pennys worth and say Thickness , so your both wrong !! Do i win a fiver ?

Nah, you're mad dude, saying thinkness implies that each sheet is thicker than a trad roll. When in actual fact there are just more. So no, you don't get a fiver.

well in that case im going with Jonno then....as the roll is double the length , sounds better than double the depth...;i mean you dont say the roll has more depth do yer ? You say this roll is longer .....

Riddle me this then Batman:
You've finished the roll, you're particularly chuffed with how well it's lasted. You want to share this new found joy, maybe tell your friends or family members about it. Would you say:

a) "Hey dude, you want to try out this new toilet roll, it has real depth and lasted ages"

or

b) "You must try this new toilet roll, it's dead long and lasted ages"

I think that if you look in your heart you'll have to admit that it's answer b isn't it. In fact I suspect that the average bod would be a little puzzled if you said that your toilet paper had depth.

Parpppppp! As if! I mean, like i am gonna come home from Tezzers and say 'hey look, if i roll this, erm, roll out its twice as long as Andrex'. I don't think so. You would, or any sane person would say 'check out the depth of this bad boy'. Easy.

Last time on the Andrex adverts I don't ever remember them saying...

"Soft, strong, and deep"

Doesn't really have the same ring about it, so I'm going with length.:)

Ah, but you are cheating are you not. You are using the complexity of the English lang to add a new dimension. If i am holding the bastard in my hand and squeezing the amount of tissue in between my fingers its perfectly obvious that the word depth is an indicator of measurment not bloody spiritual substance. Oh Jonno i am cringing for you here i really am. I think you need to stay of those jazz fags.

Come on.

The "twice the size" lazily refers to total length. The only time you would get double the depth is if you measure the roll diameter (lol) where if its longer, it should in theory be a bigger diameter. Unless its wafer thin, then it gets tricky cos it may end up rolled to the same diameter.

I think they should give you the length in meters, to the nearest sheet length, then give the quility in Togs, so you can evaluate the quality of the sheet, and then decide if its worth it for the length.

But if they have an offer on and theres only 30p in it  Then its time to break the calculators out and look like a real spaz with the vernier calipers measuring sheet thickness and diameter, and weighing up the value of the standard roll to the offer roll.

When they say twice the size, they fail to realise that some of us muppets expect a double size sheet like a kitchen paper towel where you will need a double size arse to make use of it efficiently......

:fekked: :fekked: :fekked: :fekked:

Youre all insane. :S lol

I've just been thinking about this, and I don't get why any bog roll company would make a roll that is twice the length. If they've got any business sense, they want to be making the total length shorter. That way you'd have to buy more, becasuse it wouldn't last as long.

A bit like that dude who sold his amazing idea for about £1,000,000 to a leading toothpaste company. His idea was that they could double their profits overnight, just by making the hole in the end of the tube twice as big. Note that when you double the area of a circle, you don't double the diameter, so no consumers would be able to tell, he got very rich, and so did the toothpaste firm.
