I used to love The Happy Mondays and Black Grape.....

I recently saw the documentary called ’Shaun Ryder Comes Clean’ I was quite shocked at the state of Ryder. He really did look ancient and you could hardly tell what he said most of the time. Half his teeth were missing and he was a total wreck who just cadges money from his friends and family to pay off his court costs.

He released an album last year also which I didn't know about called 'Amateur Night In The Big Top'. I will try and get it from soulseek later just out of pure interests sake. Here is an extract from a review I read about the Album:

"Now, spluttering "piss" and "sh*t" during 'Long Legs' or rabidly babbling on 'Clowns' about being beaten to death by people with "big floppy shoes", he's the dribbling old soak talking to himself on a park bench - too shaky to get his Special Brew to his mouth - barely conscious, never mind coherent. "

Shaun is already teaming up with Bez as we speak (this time Bez will be singing lol) The single should be out this month, I cannot wait to hear it, should be the funniest thing ever.

What a waste, such a shame about Shaun ending up like this. Did anyone else see the docu?

Wonder what his new stuff will be like?

Living proof that drugs seriously DON'T work....well, sometimes they don't -

It is a shame seeing him that state. I saw Tony Wilson on Wednesday at Slut in Liverpool and the majority of the tunes he spun were The Mondays. They still sound superb today, especially on a decent sound system. 'Wrote For Luck' is one of my all time fave top tunes...

Ryder has been in a mess for years..

I saw him in Dry bar a few years back scoring in the toilets. He was fat, bloated, unshaven and barely legible..

But then again when I got some records signed by him in 89 he was thin, clean shaven and barely legible so...

I've always hated him, he just really grates you know?

Can't sing, a total mess, I saw the extra's on the 24 hour party people DVD, and what a cu*t he was, legs shaking like a spaz, I'm amazed he's still alive, and for the last two years on another forum whenever they've had a 'celebrity death' thread, I've nominated that fucker, as he's gotta peg it soon I reckon, there's no way the body can withstand that.

He's dead already, he just doesn't know it. :|

I live off rennies already lol. Last night a load of people from work were going to see him, mani and clint boon djing. Gutted I missed it although apparently the mixing was awful and there was hundreds of happy mondays records :(

My mate got this offa Ebay & I'm waiting for him to copy me it... its ace... the clowns song especially makes me lmao

"Dont wanna get beaten to death by clowwwwwwwwns....
Big floppy shoes"

Classic Ryder lol

I keep seeing the documentary on Beeb 3 or 4 & every time I think that ok he's a fuckup but he's paved the way for a whole generation - you cant deny that...

The stories about him & Bez coming back from Spectrum with a car boot full of pills & then distuributing to the whole of the Hac may well be apocryphal but he was instrumental to the whole Manchester party scene...

If everyone who has a good memory of listening/seeing/dancing to the Mondays gave a quid to Ryder then we could get him out of his financial mess...

If it weren't for the Mondays I'd've probably be an indie kid & missed out on the dance scene...
