what's your favourite mix of two records or an acappella played over the top of a tune..... either you heared it played out in a club...or even made your own one up(provide a sample if possible)....
john kelly used to mix love is in the air over last rhythm which sounded great.....but my vote goes to nick warren from 1992 with this class mix....
the acappella of dsk - what would we do .. over the instrumental of massive attack - unfinished sympathy..... pure class

This seemed to go down well end of last hazy..

I often whine about the use of accapellas, only as they are (in most cases) not in tune with the piece of music they're played over, moreso with piano tunes, as the key of the piano is never the same as that which the vocals are sung in. Unless you are DJ Shadow, there's little chance of correcting the key of the pitch beforehand!

These two records thought, I think are made for each other:

Orbital - Belfast & Paris Brightledge vocals from It's Alright

DJ Rhythm - It's Alright In Belfast

:)

for one that ive heard out (barrin jammers) was undoubtedly mr Huxley at GT back in 2001 -

le voil soleil with the witney wanna dance with somebody pella, was absolutely mind blowing made me rush like a train had hit me:fekked:

the best combo i have come up with since havin me decks is the x-tremity ep-with the pink champagne pella over the top:thumbsup: even mr fussy i hate accapellas bluejammer:p thought it was ok like lol

LOL where can I start ? I love em me :D

Chuck Roberts "in the beginning" over the instr of Pure Shores

Candi Staton "You got the love" over the instr of Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

Doug Lazy "Let it roll" over Sub Sub - Space Face :head:

Velvet "Hold me like a lover" over Acts of Madmen - The dream

Jason Load "Mainline" over Sined Roza - I don;t know what it is

Raze - Bass Power over Hashim - The Soul

etc etc etc - OK I do like a tad too much lol :$ But I guess it is my signature on a mix

I also love running 'proper' songs over tunes in a weird n wonderful way:

U2 "With or without you" over the Persona issue dub of Jamie Principle - Your Love

The DOC "Portrait of a masterpiece" over Mental Cube - Q or Pied Piper - Kinetic (Orbital mix)

Cyndi Lauper "Time after time" over Hardfloor - Acperience lol

PS Mick - that JK mix of Last Rhythm n Love is in the air is supoiiiiiiiib :D :king: he did that @ Hazy n blew me away :D

I haven't spent much time experimenting with acapellas but did use the Sterling Void/Paris Brightledge one in a tape I did years and years ago. I have since lost the tape but have just redone the first mix of that tape, which was It's Alright and a white label called New World Corporation (which I think has something to do with DIY).

Nowhere near as good as the Orbital thingy from earlier but I think "it's alright." Sorry i'll get me coat.

You can download and give it a listen from here if you wish: http://www.paulmack73.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

I'd normally consider it sacrilege to use the 'It's Alright' accapella with anything else, because the original can't be bettered in my opinion, but that works surprisingly well

You even managed to slow down the accapella to the same speed as Belfast near the end too................nice!
