Now i never liked the smiths at the time. But got pissed with a mate last night and he got me into them. What amazing lyrics.

current favourite

"i've come to wish you an unhappy birthday cause you're evil and you lie, and if you should die I will be slightly sad but i won't cry"

SMiths

Fecking brilliant imo..... however anything Mozza did afterwards is shite... :naughty:

Fav Smith lyric

"Oh let me get myyyy hands,
on your mammary glands
And let me get your head,
On the conjugal bed" ;)

How can anyone not like the masterpiece that is 'How soon is now'

"I am the son & the heir
of a shyness that is criminally vulgar"

Shooms sashays off swingin his pants with gladioli in his back pocket & a hearing aid in his ear...

Shooms 'A jumped up pantry boy, who never knew his place' Shoomington. ;)

"16 hungry and shy
I went to London and I
Got myself in a the YWCA
I said I like it here can I stay
Do you have a vacancy
For a back scrubber?"

Love the Smiths, first album I got was World Won't listen.
I love asleep and oscilliates wildly, not that well known but genius.

Nath, you might like 'girlfriend in a coma'............

Theres a bit at the start of Strangeways that sounds like a riot kicking off. The first time I heard it I was dozing off on a coach in Germany and shit myself cos I thought it was all happening!

I have loved his lyrics since I was 16 and even East noticed one that was left with my posts for a few month!

Got me hand down her jeans & nearly lost half me arm"

lol...wise words matey !!!

Sweatty Betty, she eats a lot of chips,
Sweatty Betty, she's got massive tits,
Sweatty Betty, she's got a huge vagina,
Sweatty Betty, you'd fit a bus inside 'er.

class :thumbsup:

I spent last night trying to chuck my bird
She was clinging to my leg like a homesick turd
'Your tits are too small, and your legs are too short,
I want a fit bird from the Sunday Sport,
I can't hear my records when you sit on my face,'
Then she mouths off in front of my mates....

'But you told me that you loved me!'
'I never f**king did!'
'You used to bring me flowers!'
'Shut your f**king grid!'
'You acted dead sweet, and you called me fluffy pup!'
'You could cook, you could f**k, you could do the washing up, now I've had enough, Go on, f**k off, get stuffed.'

They don't write em like they used to ;)

Really could not agree more. They are certianly one of my fav groups. The Marr/Morissey combo produced a number of excellent tracks.

The lyrics always draw attention to the group ( but I think the man like Johnny Marr deserves the biggest respect.

If you listen to alot of Smiths tracks, and try to strip out the vocals, you can really appreciate the quality of the music production. Tracks like Oscillate Wildy exemplify this, the music is so good that the lyrics only enhance an already amazing musical foundation.

Not to take anything away from Morissey, he wrote quality lyrics and was certianly a very prominant and appropriate frontman.

'Hang the dj, for the music that he constanly plays, it says nothing to me about my life' - What a lyric.

'Oh Man-che-ster, so much to answer for'

Obviously a bold statement, but for me, the best gituar band of the eighties by a mile.

Also, big up to Pianoman, I also noticed the use of the lyrics in your description!
