Soundcard issue mate Deffo a soundcard issue... I got a Terratec DMX6 Fire 2 years back for £136 and never looked back - full 24/96 capability, ultra low latency (less than 3ms at the mo with full load), and the breakout box unit makes the front of your pc look both WICKED AS HELL and (this is just an aside lol) you have all the connectors in front of you and input gains for mic/phono etc. Coupled with excellent management software and drivers, you cannae go wrong. I bought a Kaoss Pad II last night (gonna knock up a thread on that too in a bit) and coincidentally, the chap in front of me was buying a DMX6 Fire too. I did find that my old 1g Athlon with 640 SDRAM would get narky at times when I was at full load on Fruity and Reason / Logic... however, with the new 2g+ and 1gig of Corsair, my machine is flying and I have oodles of headroom when it comes to production loading (host, vsts and outboards). Happy hunting - Terratec for me... plenty other choices out there in the same bracket - wouldn't necessarily go for a Creative - they are not the most useful.
