Ive got the Dell dimension 3000 and my music comes outta the pc thru me amp. Lately the sound skips/jumps slightly every so often, im thinking about getting a soundblaster card as my pc`s card is intergrated to me pc. My questions are -

a) would it make any noticable difference in the sound even if going thru an amp

b) could it stop the jumping of my music

Any replies much appreciated.

If money was tight then an Audigy 2 card is better than a sound blaster and you should be able to pick up an OEM version with drivers only quite cheaply.

If the sound is skipping on say winamp then try an alternitive media player ie Windows media player or real player and see if it has the same effect - if it is still skipping, Try uninstalling the driver in device manager and then remove the actual soundcard entry with the yellow question mark next to it - reboot PC and when it finds the new hardware (PCI soundcard) reload the driver when prompted from the driver disc that came with yer pc.

Not sure regarding your Dell PC, as I bought one recently and had to return it, as couldn't tell from the image of it online, but it was one of them slimline ones, which meant that it wouldn't take the dvd-rw I had in mind to put in it, and it also wouldn't take an audigy soundcard, due to the way it had been designed - major lack of space and too slimline!

If your case width is less than 180mm it could be a problem...

Its a bog standard size, about 200mm
